Who can resist these eyes? This image is a reproduction of my original color pencil painting on drafting paper of ’”Blink” a beautiful cat owned by a fellow artist. “Blink” was placed Second in the Painting – Drawing Any Subject category at the 2008 Canning Show (First Place was awarded to my colour pencil painting “We Three Kings II – Lion” and Third to “Noble” my German Shepherd Dog in charcoal (yes I was very pleased with this Hat Trick!).
A photograph with “home made P.S.” the only difference is that the objects were live, hand picked and hand applied. It was made with layers of nature, reflections and things around the house. /

In my most recent series: ‘Face Navigation’ , I have used the fluidity of watercolour painting to express a personal perception of self and others. There is an awareness of the universal human condition through facial expression, and in some cases I create a progression of images, exploring the changing perception of a person by deconstructing facial recognition. As there is a shift over time in attitude or mood, there is a corresponding shift in visual interpretation. Sizes variable, average sizes 250×102 mm. Ref / with special permission from model and photographer pluschkind I bumped into this fantastic image while browsing the photography on deviant art and the photographer/model was happy to let me try my hand at drawing it. / As you can see though, I ended up painting it. oils on watercolour paper. I’ve never tried that before but i had no black watercolour paint so I thought, why not!? So all I used was black oils and turpentine to get the greys, like with watercolours. / The way the white cuts up the image reminded me of an image we’d looked at in my visual culture class, the artist had digitally erased lines through the person to create white tribal markings. this erasure gave me the idea for the title of this piece. This Portrait is available in my 2009 calendar!

Portrait of a little girl on a swing with her cabage patch doll. This little girl lived across the street from me at the time I did this piece..She is about four years old, watercolor pencil and water color on coquile paper . I add water as I go with the pencils but don’t get it too wet..I spray it lightly when finished and use a blow dryer / I used Coquille paper 3ply…Cold press it has a stiple surface and is predictable meaning no surprises. It helps me achieve the effect I want and is very durable. It’ plays a big part in my images. I like to get as much depth as possible in my work…I achieve this with light and contrast in my color..People also identify my work wilth the color that I use..It has kind of becomes a trade mark . I also strive to have a unique quality in my art…. Something all of my own. / This piece hangs in a Doctors Office in Sick Kids Hospital…It was a lot of fun to do…She was having such a great time on that swing I had to capture it on paper. I like to capture movement in my work and a feeling of part of my subject…Who they are…a part of their personality…Something you can take away with you after viewing such as a feeling of happiness..You can tell she loves her doll very much because it;s on the swing with her…I use props a lot in my art work of children..This way when the child sees the art work she can identify with it by seeing their doll or teddy….My work appeals to various kinds of people especially children or places children will be. /
...Child on a ride at the park laughing 22×30 …work was done on Coquille paper…it has a stiple surface and it is my paper of choice usually..Helps me get the soft effect I want.. I like to capture all of my subject in different ways..To be able to see a part of that person and who they are.. I also like to capture movement to bring it to life. I .used watercolor pencils … they allow me to use water where I want it. The child is about four years old. I “Featured ” in / Capturing Emotion / Childhood / 1 on 1 Fine Art of Portraiture and became a featured member / First Things / Good News Group / Dimentions / Works on Paper / Pets and People / Live, Love Dream / Feature Faturnity / This was a commissioned portrait….This was a fun piece and she was so cute and just a little monkey…I didn’t want to give her back to her parents..I was really happy with my composition and is one of my favourit works….I use this image as my signature piece on my cards because I do a lot of commissioned portraits of children and in my personal work as well. The colors I use in my work are also a type of signature because it is part of my style..people recognize my work this way.
Black and white drawing of two children from the back with their arms around each other sittiing on the grass..”First Love”. / The paper is Coquille .cold press.2ply..it has a stiple surface and gives me a softer look to my work…also no surprises in the paper…It is the paper I usually use 22”X30” / I used graphite from 2H to 9B applying in coats from light to dark… / I tried to get as much light as possible in this piece This piece was in the top ten comp. “friends” / Featured in Childhood / Graphite Pencil Drawing / 100% / Placed in three challenges / The children are around five years old / Friendship challenge
