This small rock pool is found in Cabbage Tree Bay, along the pathway between Manly and Shelly Beach on Sydney’s northern beaches. The sculpture/statue is known as The Oceanids. This image was a 30 second exposure nearly an hour before sunrise with the pool wall and sculpture lit up by a nearby street light. This image has also won a photo of the week at photographer Steve Parish’s Photograph Australia website.
A full frame version of this image is also currently available.
I used my Holga GN for this shot, overlapping the frames in camera, by using the 6×6 mask and and advancing the film according to the 6×4.5 guide.

The most famous ship in the world, Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth 2, moored in Sydney’s Circular Quay. To give her well-to-do passengers something to look at as they dined on their spatchcock entrées and awaited her departure, it was arranged to have the Sydney Opera House positioned just across the Quay. In case you’re wondering how this image would look full size, here’s a 100% crop from a section of the image:

/ . / Please view large photo to appreciate panorama fully / . / This is a panorama taken on the same night of my other photos “Luna Over Luna Park”, ““By Request””, and “Luna Harbours”. The photos were taken in quite quick succession. I attempted to combine the full moon, with the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Luna Park. You might be interested in viewing the other photos because one is in Portrait, two are in Landscape, and this one PANORAMA. It’s amazing how a similar subject can be photographed in slightly different ways, and produce different results. I will interested in knowing which of the four is you favourite !

Thanks for looking The Legend / _The Aboriginal dream-time legend has it that three sisters, ‘Meehni’, ‘Wimlah’ and Gunnedoo’ lived in the Jamison Valley as members of the Katoomba tribe. These beautiful young ladies had fallen in love with three brothers from the Nepean tribe, yet tribal law forbade them to marry. The brothers were not happy to accept this law and so decided to use force to capture the three sisters causing a major tribal battle. As the lives of the three sisters were seriously in danger, a witchdoctor from the Katoomba tribe took it upon himself to turn the three sisters into stone to protect them from any harm. While he had intended to reverse the spell when the battle was over, the witchdoctor himself was killed. As only he could reverse the spell to return the ladies to their former beauty, the sisters remain in their magnificent rock formation as a reminder of this battle for generations to come._

Still going through my images from my Sydney trip this year . Went down to the Sydney Opera House a couple of times as it was close to where we were staying in the CBD and The Sydney skyline and Opera House would have to be one of my favourite skylines to photography besides the Perth skyline . Would have to be one of my favourite cities in Australia as well , If i did’nt live in Perth could easly live in either Sydney or the Gold Coast .
