Morning rainbow, Jokulsarlon, Iceland Iceland / Belgium / Italy / France / Hungary / Spain / Sri Lanka / USA / London / Portraits / Other Jokulsarlon is a glacial lake that meets the sea in Iceland. One of the most beautiful places i have been on our little planet Earth. The tragedy is that this beautiful photo would not be possible without global warming. When in a cafe at a petrol station i saw a postcard of Jokulsarlon. One single large iceberg floating in the centre. As you can see now the lake is full. Note: The size if this work was increased using Photoshop CS2. / Best size being around the 50cm wide.

This small rock pool is found in Cabbage Tree Bay, along the pathway between Manly and Shelly Beach on Sydney’s northern beaches. The sculpture/statue is known as The Oceanids. This image was a 30 second exposure nearly an hour before sunrise with the pool wall and sculpture lit up by a nearby street light. This image has also won a photo of the week at photographer Steve Parish’s Photograph Australia website.
A full frame version of this image is also currently available.
A magical place that appears only in the right conditions – The water is shallow and floods across the flat base of the grampians – hence ‘Sheet Water’. A little known treasure !
I shot this from Point Richards on the Bellarine Peninsula (Victoria) looking across Corio Bay. From all of my visits to ‘the other side’ of the bay, I’ve come to realise that the cloud formations are often very different to the Mornington Peninsula (where I spend most of my time). So far, and probably extremely luckily for me, I have never been disappointed with a sunrise or sunset shot taken on the Bellarine.
On a moody Spring evening, dense but scattered clouds roll across the bay threatening to open up and pour on anything that falls their path. The setting sun casts its light across the clouds making them glow in a way that makes them appear to be on fire. The stunning colour of the sand comes up through the shallow water in unusual blues and greens while at the same time mixing with the oranges and reds of the sky.
This image was taken @ Port Willunga at the remains of the old jetty. On a recent journey back to Port Willunga recently, I’d noticed that many of these posts had been burnt. A fun stunt at the time I suppose :( Best viewed on a black background. Images from Australia / Architecture / Images from Japan / Sunsets / Water Scenes
Sukurajima is an active volcano in the south of Japan near the city of Kagoshima. While it was not active when we were there it has been active in recent years – last erupting in February 2000. Best placed of a black background.
A few years ago, Mildura hosted the World Hot Air Balloon Championships. I headed up there for a few days to enjoy the event. Travelling with the competitors was great as I got to see how quickly they measured the weather conditions and set up their balloons. About 80 balloons were raised at about the same time, many of them side-by-side like this, in a rush to take advantage of the best wind conditions. Not only were they pushing against each other on the ground, but the balloons would also bump each other in the air, it was really an amazing sight.

As calm as this image looks, the waves crashing over the rocks were huge. I had to grab my gear and jump out of the way of the waves numerous times to capture this image. Captured 10-15 minutes before sunrise. Camera – Fuji GX617 / Film – Fuji Velvia 100 To see more of my work please visit www.gallerym-australia.com
This photo was taken using a Canon EOS 350D, handheld. The view was so breathtaking , I couldn’t not take the shot. I chose to include the rocks in the foreground to show a bit more interest and add a bit more depth to the image. / Image was sharpened a little using Photoshop. / / My camera settings were as follows: F-stop 5.6 / Shutter Speed 1/320sec / ISO 100 / Lens 18mm, with Polarising filter. / Canon EOS 350D. / / Camera was hand-held. In recent weeks, the sunrises and sunsets have been quite impressive. Here is a shot I took around Port Philip Bay during one cool morning. The colours were vibrant and the clouds slick and layered. It was shot as an HDR image.
