Anybody who has ever tried to create a myspace profile will know why I have been quiet apart from the odd scream of despair. I eventually achieved something and managed to include some of the new bells and whistles provided by redbubble to advertise my wares here. Their flash bubble panel is really neat as well as their display banner that shows a random display of your work. Now all I need to do is get networking and it will be worth it. I have already seen a very odd poetry exercise going on in one of their forums. Its a mad bad place and easy to get lost in. It lends itself to chaos though.

Welcome to the very first installment of a series of three panel strips I’ve aptly titled “Bubbleworld!” Bet you’re excited, aren’t you? No? I used an exclamation point…didn’t that help any? No, it didn’t have any effect? Well, can you at least pretend to be excited? For your old pal Steve? Come on, what’s it going to hurt? You can? Cool, thanks, I appreciate it. My goal with the “Bubbleworld” is simply to showcase the work of some of the people I’ve met during my first three months or so on the site, and to show my appreciation of them, and admiration for their work in the only way I know how… By poking fun at them. (What can I say, I’m an emotional misfit.) First on the chopping block is the good Mr. Dave Edwards also known as BLYTHART / (For a larger image click the picture) Dave is a man of many artistic talents and seems to be a hell of a nice guy to boot. Hopefully he enjoyed my little comic. Here are just a few examples of Dave’s work that I used as inspiration for the above piece. (Click for a larger image) I’m going to try and do a new one every couple of weeks, some sooner, some no doubt later due to my amazing ability procrastinate. I already have next weeks edition ready to go so expect it next Monday. If anyone out there wants me to feature them, just let me know via. Bubblemail and I’ll see what I can do. It might take me a couple of months to get to you but I’ll try my best. Steve~

Welcome to the second installment of a series of three panel strips I’ve aptly titled “Bubbleworld!” I’m a little late with this weeks entry because I was in Las Vegas with the wife for her birthday. No offense to any of my friends in the redbubble world or their fantastic art, but, well…Vegas is a heck of a lot more fun. That being said, my goal with the “Bubbleworld” is simply to showcase the work of some of the people I’ve met during my first three months or so on the site, and to show my appreciation of them, and admiration for their work in the only way I know how… By poking fun at them. (It’s what I do.) On the chopping block this week is the wonderful Ms. RHANA GRIFFIN Rhana and I go back a few years now. At this point I think she understands my sense of humor as well as anyone, and hopefully she enjoys this. (Because if she doesn’t I honestly do fear for my life.) (For a larger image click the picture) To be fair, Rhana does a heck of a lot more than simply take close up shots of her head and get all “emo” in the description. In fact, she’s a fantastic photographer and I suggest you take a moment to head over and browse some of her work. Here are just a few examples of her work that I used as a direct inspiration for the above piece. I already have next weeks edition ready to go so expect it next Monday. Steve!

Welcome to the third installment of a series of three panel strips I’ve aptly titled “Bubbleworld!” Unlike last week, this weeks entry is in fact on time (though I don’t really have any set schedule, so “on time” is a relative term). Next weeks edition will more than likely be more late than a snail with a busted time piece, so maybe I should relish my brief moment of success and simply shut up. The goal with the “Bubbleworld” is to showcase the work of some of the people I’ve met during my first three or four months on the site, and to show my appreciation of them, and admiration for their work in the only way I know how… By poking fun at them. (Because simply complimenting them would be too easy and much less time consuming.) On the chopping block this week is the wonderful SHANNON JUSTICE who is the “owner, founder, and all around head honcho of Hahpi Stuff Illustrations.” (According to her profile) I believe that she’s also the only employee, and therefore owner/founder by default…but whatever. Shannon was among the first people to ever add me to their watchlist and for that reason alone she deserved a strip dedicated to her. Oh, her work is also pretty darn good to boot. ;) (For a larger image click the picture) Take a moment out of your day and take a look at some of Shannon’s work. You won’t be disappointed. Here are just a few examples of her work that I used as a direct inspiration for the above piece. (Click for a larger image) I’m going to try and do a new one every couple of weeks, some sooner, some no doubt later due to my amazing ability procrastinate. Steve!

Welcome to the fourth installment of a series of three panel strips I’ve aptly titled “Bubbleworld!” This weeks edition is a wee bit late, but hopefully you’ll think it’s so incredibly funny that all will be forgiven. (Hopefully, but not very likely). The goal with the “Bubbleworld” is to showcase the work of some of the people I’ve met during my first three or four months on the site, and to show my appreciation of them, and admiration for their work in the only way I know how… By poking fun at them. (Because complimenting people is so darn awkward.) On the chopping block this week is the unstoppable force of nature that is PINKYJAIN. Not only is Pinky the very first person to ever add me to her watchlist her on Redbubble, but she’s a heck of a talented artist to boot. The thing I love most about Pinky’s work is the unpredictability of it. (Despite the fact that my strip focuses on one specific thing…go figure.) (For a larger image click the picture) Take a moment out of your day and take a browse through Pinky’s portfolio. I really dig the vampire series myself. Here are just a few examples of her work that I used as a direct inspiration for the above piece. (Click for a larger image) Volume 5 may or may not be coming next week as I’ve got a lot on my plate at the moment, but if I can’t get one up next week there will be one the week after. Steve!

Hi my writing friends, I am spreading the word that there is a site that is amazing for Freelancers that has come online recently. It’s a place for all freelancers that want to connect with other freelancers to network, talk about issues effecting them, create business ventures and make themselves available for hire. The site also runs events for freelancers. The first event was held last week in Melbourne and all who attended and were involved said it was fun, beneficial and worth while. I for one learnt a lot by going! The way the events will work is having an event for all freelancers (designers, photographers, writers etc) and then the following month will be a specialised event that focuses on one group of freelancers and then the process repeats. The next event will be for Writers and will be in the New year. There will be guest speakers who will act as panel members. You will be able to ask them questions as well as network, socialise and grow as a writer and freelancer. It’s a fun night and so worth going to! I suggest you all get on board, make yourselves a profile on the site and hop into the forums as soon as possible to take full advantage of what’s on offer here! I hope to see you on the site and at the next event! Go to the link below: Freelancer Unplugged Have fun! Flic xx
