The salty remains in a back water lagoon off the River Murray, Lyrup, South Australia. Access to this area is next to the Ferry at Lyrup. The drought continues to effect this mighty river…. Even though sections are in trouble the main parts of the river continue to survive and the communities along them need our support! There is still plenty of water in the river main and lots of activities to be had. Canon 400D 18 – 55 lens with polarising filter. 3 shot HDR in Photomatix.

I’d been meaning to get back to this spot to do some more panorama’s after taking some pans from here some time ago…as per below…. / / Taken from the top of London Bridge, a great archy rock feature along the Mornington Peninsula ~ Vic. ~ Aus.. / This pano is a 5 image stitch, landscape orientated x 3 shot HDR..15 images in total – but nothing compared to the 50 shot baby I’m working on at the moment..!!.. / Great stormy light had me fill up an 8G card in no time… / Thanks for looking, comments always welcome…cheers, Rob..
I mentioned a couple shots ago, I was working on a monster pan..Well this one took a fair bit of work to pump out, but I’m extremely happy with the result and the hours upon hours of work tends to be worth it in the end… / 51 shots make up this image, 17 shot pan – portrait oriented x 3 shot hdr, over a Gigabyte in it’s full raw mode, PC herniating at every step – untill I got the size down to a reasonable level after most of the raw adjustments were made.. / Taken on the Mornington Peninsula N.P, Portsea Ocean Coast – actually takes in both up and down the coast and of course, that fantastic stormy light… / Thanks for having a look….cheers, Rob..
Photographed last year during the fires of Southern California. The smokey air created unusual colors that reflected off the water. Taken from the Santa Barbara breakwater. Canon 1Ds Mark II / 600 mm focal length / 1/8 second exposure / f/16
Surfing just before dawn. The water color comes from the dawn light reflecting off high clouds in the sky. Canon 1Ds Mark II / 600 mm focal length / 1/15 second / f/4 / ISO 50 Panning and trying to keep the surfer in one spot in the frame produces the fluidity and quality to the water.

The Gods are dead: no longer do we bring / To grey-eyed Pallas crowns of olive-leaves! / Demeter’s child no more hath tithe of sheaves, / And in the noon the careless shepherds sing, / For Pan is dead, and all the wantoning / By secret glade and devious haunt is o’er: / Young Hylas seeks the water-springs no more; / Great Pan is dead, and Mary’s son is King. And yet—perchance in this sea-tranced isle, / Chewing the bitter fruit of memory, / Some God lies hidden in the asphodel. / Ah Love! if such there be, then it were well / For us to fly his anger: nay, but see, / The leaves are stirring: let us watch awhile. (Oscar Wilde)
