“A Touch of Paradise” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © Sunrise in tropical Mission Beach, far north Queensland, Australia. “Flamingos walk, and sway in peace / Seeing this, it makes my troubles cease / The sun is hiding, leaving a pink scar / That stretches right across the sky / Thats all weve seen so far / And all I do is look into your eyes / For that special touch of paradise / Just a touch, a touch of paradise / Just a special touch of paradise / You hold my hand, thats when we kiss / And it doesnt take long no, until I get the gist / Of this love that stretches out across the land / Where rainbows flash, as were walking in the sand / And all I do is look into your eyes / A touch of spring, and autumn sweet / Well the trees vibrate when our eyes meet / And I think of all the love that we have been making / You touch my hand and I walk off shaking / And all I do is look into your eyes.” / ~Ross Wilson and G Smith
Taken in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. Every other tree on this stretch of coastline was a green palm, this was only the exception and I couldn’t resist it. See my video on YouTube

Palm Silhouettes / Sunset Christmas Day on Maui The Adventurer “Dusk on the sea; the fading twilight shifts / The night wind bears the ocean’s whisper dim wind, on your bosom many a phantom drifts - A silver star climbs up the blue world rim. / Wind, make the green leaves dance above me here And idly swing my silken hammock – so; / Now, on that glimmering molten silver mere / Send the long ripples wavering to and fro. / And let your moon-white tresses touch my face And let me know your slim-armed, cool embrace While to my dreamy soul you whisper low. Dream – aye, I’ve dreamed since last night left her tower And now again she comes on star-soled feet. Welcome, old friend; here in this rose-gemmed bower I’ve drowsed away your Sultan’s golden heat. Here in my hammock, Time I’ve dreamed away For I have but to stretch a hand out, lo, I’m treading languorous shores of Yesterday, Moon-silvered deserts or the star-weird snow; I float o’er seas where ships are purple shells, / I hear the tinkle of the camel bells / That waft down Cairo’s streets when dawn winds blow. South Seas! I watch when dusky twilight comes Making vague gods of ancient, sea-set trees. / The world path beckons – loud the mystic drums – Here at my hand the magic golden keys / That fit the doors of Romance, / Wonder, / strange / Dim gossamer adventures; seas and stars. Why, I have roamed the far Moon Mountain range When sunset minted gold in shimmering bars. / All eager eyed I’ve sailed from ports of Spain / And watched the flashing topaz of the Main / When dawn was flinging witch fire on the spars. / I am content in dreams to roam my fill / The vagrant, drifting sport of wind and tide, / Slave of the greater freedom, venture’s thrill; / Here every magic ship on which I ride. Gold, green, blue, red, a priceless treasure trove, More wealth than ever pirate dared to dream. / My hammock swings – about the world I rove. / The sunset’s dusk, the dawning’s glide and gleam, Moon-dappled leaves are murmuring in the wind Which whispers tales. Lo, Tyre is just behind, Through seas of dawn I sail, / Romance abeam.” ~ by Robert Ervin Howard My images do not belong to the public domain and may not be reproduced in any manner whatsover without my express written authorization. / Copyright © Sharon Mau 2009 / All Rights Reserved Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi / 25 December 2008 19:25:33 / Tv Shutter Speed 1/250 / Av Aperture Value 10.0 / ISO 100 / Lens EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM / Focal Length 28.0 mm Currently with 995 Views and 1 Sale

With all the bazillions of sunset images.. I still find myself trying to capture the beauty of each new one I see. To me they are romantic, calming and one of natures finest works of art. This one I took in Mexico somewhere along the west coast. Pulled off the road and sat awhile to admire & dream as the sun melted into the sea. Nikon D60 55/200 / Mexico 2009

...the second sign of the Zodiac – / Your element: Earth / Your ruling planets: Venus / Symbol: The Bull / Your stone: Emerald / Life Pursuit: Emotional and financial security / Vibration: Determined energy / Taurus Secret Desire: To have a secure, happy and wealthy life/marriage….signs / The Sun is in Taurus between about 20th April to 20th May. / Placid, calm and contented, the bull in the meadow will enjoy the sun on his back and good food to eat, and he’ll tolerate annoying flies, and even people walking through his field…just so far…but try and make him move when he doesn’t want to and you might as well try until Doomsday. The Bull of the Zodiac is the same. If your Sun is in Taurus, you are peace-loving and reliable, your business will prosper and you’ll be practical and tolerant. But no-one in their right mind should try and make you change yours. And, just as the bull in the field will charge unexpectedly one day, so the rare rage of a Taurean is fearful to behold. / If Taurus was rising when you were born, you’re not going to rush out there. You’ll take your time, think before deciding anything, and you’ll want to stick with what you know. But people will love to rely on you, and when you find your mate you’ll be passionate and protective. .. /

I was excited again this afternoon as the storms approached from the west. My brother and I raced to the lookout over Sunshine Beach in the Noosa National Park. As fast as they formed, they dissipated, leaving what was to be a beautiful sky in the sunset. I took the time to get to the hidden beach again as the now weak storm cell passed overhead. WOW I was in nature heaven, and I’m so happy I made the effort this afternoon to get to this spot. It’s so wild, untamed and serene. It wasn’t long before the usual eagles soared overhead. You don’t get many other birds here for some reason. Noosa Hidden Beach (not official name, un-named beach), Noosa National Park, Noosa Heads, Queensland, Australia. Canon 5D Mk II, 2x stitched horizontal 16mm shots. 180 degrees field of view. Actual print size is over 3 metres high :) Best viewed Large of course.
