A magic day from long ago / Revisits dusty mind / And brings with it the warmest glow / My heart could hope to find / / Young cowboy on the carousel / This wrangler on his steed / Imagination was the spell / That filled his every need / / The magic of that day lives on / Captured by shutter’s clicks / And even though those days foregone / With me that magic sticks / / True magic it must surely be / To turn back hands of time / To live again for all to see / Through image and this rhyme / / This artwork was inspired by my son, D.J., while going through some old photos to get them ready to convert to digital format from film. It was taken on his sixth birthday when I took him to Elitch Gardens amusement park. I had made him a promise that I would take him there once he was tall enough to ride on the ‘big kids’ rides. It was a very magical and memorable day for both of us, and it warms my heart ever time I look at it remembering the wonderful time we had. / / I made this digital painting for my son for his birthday, hoping that it will take him back to the joy of that day, just as it does for myself. As we get older, we often forget the carefree and simple joys that we experienced during our youth, and the magical world that surrounds us. I hope that this painting will also invoke those magical and joyous times from your own youth! / / The digital painting was created in Photoshop from a scan of the original negative. This was one of the shots i got when i was asked to photograph and event down at the foreshore. She didnt mind me taking her picture at all, she just happily painted away. Its quite funny looking through the series of shots as her painting progresses.
