This was a legendary tribute mural to Miles Davis…. on the wings of a song ….. and was part of the extraordinary street art life of Newtown at a particular time. And thats me lounging about on someone else’s gold Rolls Royce…. This car has made an appearance in a few of my photo’s most notabley Spirt of Sydney! The car belonged to a Mr Tony Spanos Esq who owned and operated the Graffitti Hall of Fame in Alexandria in gritty industrial inner city Sydney…... One of the most eccentric and amazingly arts focused multi millonares I’ve ever met thats for sure….. King of Doof and lover of Graffitti and all around champion of the arts especially if it was a bit cheeky…... Anyway when Newtown started to get a bit gentrifyed a few years back the tidy town people painted it out despite it being one of the most popular and enduring murals around at the time….. such a shame…. / . /

Thanks to the magic of inspiration, I have produced another painting. As usual, I am tempted to continue fiddling. It may need gold, perhaps… I know we are requested to only put finished images up….it could be finished! We’ll see.

“Winged Spirits” is a montage featuring some of the great Raptors of our Wilderness areas. Bald Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Red-Tail Hawk, Owl etc. These beautiful creatures are depicted as ghostly spirits standing watch before a full Halloween Moon. A powerful image to grace the wall of wildlife advocates and wilderness lovers alike! P.S. It looks great with the wide black border I normally add, so if you would prefer a version with the border, just let me know. :o-) Part proceeds go to the MARS (Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society where I volunteer, here on Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada. Another Painted Lady butterfly! This is obviously the outside of her wing, which is duller and mostly browny colours, but the sun was shining through it, highlighting the colours from the inside. Nikon D40 18-55mm with screw +4 & +2 filters.
