Acrylic on canvas 70×50 cm / 2005 (original available) I have a fascination for painting with lines…it starts with one…then another and more…and sometimes I have only a small idea of what it will be….others it’s more preconceived…but along the way it’s amazing to watch these lines form into something tangible…it reminds me of life and how things join and connect to make more and more each day a life wave / in and out / out and in it rolls / in to the shore it drags / out to sea turbulent days / made of Grey / calm night / full moon shining constant motion / constant feeling life wave / take me away
Abstract – Acrylic on canvas
been reading about tribal child raising and the benefits, and we know I like birds… I began this art as abstract patterns, bubbles of pattern that transformed when I realised by putting a ‘fork in the road’ to the concentric circles, that I created an eye and beak. Before that, it could’ve been shown either way up. also, it transformed from earthy brown colours, to a colourful bird. ‘Is it art? ‘my teacher used to always question. He’s not here now. He’s just asking the question still! in my head! I like it-it’s bright, colouful and alive.

The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by me SBC, with my painting, and drawings. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda through my eyes. This art won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007. It is presently being considered for exhibition at the Royal Navy Dockyard Museum in Bermuda. Thank you for your interest, comments and purchases!
Sales of this Design? – 2 sales so far :) Razzamattaz Fairy joins us today on Red Bubble. / She came to life from a piece of paper and a little inspiration…..it grew from there! / In a crazy frenzy of pastel dust, charcoal, ink, acrylics, wool, silver thread and sparkles Razzamattaz was born…...out of the pastel dust she came to life to grace us with her presence and present herself on cards, to make herself known to others, bringing fairy magic wherever she goes. Hope you like Razzamattaz!
This work was initially influenced by swirling, churning water, typically witnessed along the rocky coasts of California. It was oil and acrylic on canvas. But that was just the seed. I let the work lead me where it wanted to go. This painting also represents my shift to using various knifes and spatulas (in 2005) – building of layer after layer of motion textures and thin glazes. The original no longer exists. The prints available here are all that is left of it. Its short life ended when I decided to overpaint it. It is now another work, which I’ll post as well. It will be interesting to see if anyone can spot evolution. I felt that this work was strong enough to stand on its one. So here it is. Hope you enjoy.
/ Sailor Girl is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper, I used ink, pastel, and some acrylic…..inks are mainly black, acrylics are mainly white, you can see the canvas texture showing through the pastel, which gives it a nice textured appeal I am really into sailing boats, hope you like this one :D Here’s another one available in a print at last!
A pair of abstract reflections from a normandy harbour that caught my eye… / / / /
The original painting is a 5×7 miniature work done with pencil and acrylic paint. This is a “free association” work that I did while watching the SciFi Channel’s mini-series “Tin Man”, which was a modern re-working of “The Wizard of Oz”. Dorothy’s face has merged with the tornado to dance across this checked game board in this surrealist image that I hope you will enjoy.

Ah the fabled cherry—the poetic color of luscious lips, and just as sweet. It started out in West Asia (perhaps the Persia-Armenia region) and in two varietals from which all cultivated cherries are descended: Prunus avium (sweet) and Prunus cerasus (sour). Sweet cherries had spread to Ancient Greece and the Mediterranean by 300 BCE, for Theophrastus mentions them. And Pliny the Elder (1st century AD) mentions that some 8 varieties of cherries were being cultivated in Italy—and that the Romans were spreading them as far north as Britain. The British, in turn, carried it to the New World in the 17th century (Beyond the huge crops in Michigan, California, Oregon, and Washington, American wild cherries include the chokecherry, the pin cherry, and the wild black cherry. Sour cherries have spread even farther north, and are a speciality of Germany and Scandanavia. Today it is estimated that some 900 sweet varieties (ranging in color from yellow to black) and some 300 sour varieties are being grown. Most sweet cherries will produce fruit only after they’ve been cross-pollinated—honey bees usually do the leg work, carrying pollen from a sweet cherry of another variety soupsong.com See some samples of the collection below, and view the entire collection to date, at the Bubblesite HERE / Plum Blossom with Apples and Cream / / Sour Cream Bumbleberry Tart with an Apricot Glaze / / Ginger Shortcake with Nectarines and Creme Fraiche / / Spicy Chewy Ginger Cookies / / Chocolate Cupcake with a Mocha Swirl / / Cinnamon Bun / / Scone with Berries and Cream / / Lemon curd and Blueberry Tart

Bored and needing some new “material”, I headed outside with Nikon D300, Sigma 105mm f/2.8 Macro and SB800 flash. After blinding multiple insects, I settled down at my blooming Hydrogena. Amazing what nature will “paint” for us.
A simple song repeated in my brain as I walked past a dimpled hillside toward a field of cotton candy faces. I sat down on a stone and wondered why the air felt stiffer to me than it seemed to be for others. The wind blew at my hair and I felt a circle of glowing steam surround me. I liked it. It was comforting. I could see others running, jumping, speaking, laughing. I knew that the blanket that covered my ache was only a temporary shield. Yet, I need it to survive at the time. For a moment. For a brief second that it took my human being to sprout from its pod of living energy and erupt from the earth toward the sun. / But it was only for a moment. / Then I shed the cloud of dust and water and debris and sediment and slime and death that had accumulated over time. / No longer a comfort. No longer a shield, but a wet blanket dragging me down. / And I grew smaller and deeper and bolder and more fearful and altogether more authentic. I didn’t like myself or life or you or anything except maybe creating my own world with art. And I nodded at the moon who laughed from behind a purple cloud at my frailty. “It’s just another blanket.” The moon said in a husky voice that sounded oddly as it smoked a great deal. / Then the sun spun from under a rock and kicked the moon in the butt and slapped me on the face with light. Pure light. / “When will it end?” I shouted in despair. / “That’s not for you to worry about. Now just do whatever it is you have to do and let me get to my work. I have a busy day with flowers to grow and skin to burn.” / I did. Not being quite sure what I was supposed to do, I went for a walk. When all else fails, just go for a hike. And all of a sudden I was glad to be alive. Though I didn’t know why. Glad is acrylic on paper. Original is 14”x22” /
