acrylic on canvas 2004 Please don’t use my work without my permission.
Painted in my Byron Bay art gallery / studio. / This painting is one in my series on dance and movement. In this series I study, which lines and colors, within a persons movement, define the soul of a person, to find the answer I worked for several weeks with one model. / We did four photo-shoots, over 2500 photos, hours of organization, observation and dialog, one video-shoot and over a 100 sketches. This resulted into a series I call: The Narrative of Motion. The series contain powerful mysterious poses, It feels like the spirit is pushed out of the physical cage of the body.

“I looked deep in her eye and I saw her soul.” When came back to the painting I saw it was really….MY EYE!!! Acrylic painting 16×20 on canvas board By Vickie Fisher Original painting SOLD, prints available only
acrylic on canvas / Sometimes circumstance can murder some dreams, but still there are new ones arising…...there is always a birth with every death…..life is a precious thing and we need to acknowledge and respect each and every aspect of it, the things that seem so simple and we take for granted are usually the things we miss the most when they are out of reach….
For the first time this dear painting is out to be seen in public since I created her I kept her to myself over 2 years ago original 100×80 cm , canvas. / Best to be seen in LARGE view for details.
All through the ages pools, lakes, sacred wells and springs have all been invested with magical properties and believed to be the dwelling places of the gods. Water is a universal symbol for the Soul and is represented by different moods and qualities. It can be gentle like rain and as hard as ice. In this painting using wax the Water Bird has arrived, to be refreshed and to return to its real state of purity by washing away the debit of the past. Encaustic wax

When I had finished the large commission for an insurance broker, I was thinking of what I’d like to pursue in the way of subject matter. One of my favorite periods in art history is when the Flemish masters were at the height of their skills. I wondered what it would be like to create my work using some of the Flemish techniques while putting a modern spin on the compositions and subject matter. This was the first in that series. Original ptg: 18” x 24” / acrylic on canvas panel private collection
This painting is an allegory of the Allegory of Painting by Jan Vermeer. Vermeer is one of my favorite Flemish artists. He died in his 40s and left a small body of beautiful paintings. Someday I would love to see one of his originals. trompe l’oeil Original ptg: 16” x 24” / acrylic on canvas panel private collection
When my children were toddlers I would take them camping in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We’d always visit this one expanse of the Pigeon River where it was fairly tame. It had a lot of fabulous rock arrangements woven into the flow of the water and when I stumbled onto this little waterfall, I knew I wanted to paint it. Original ptg.: 60” x 48” / acrylic on canvas artist’s collection
I made a pilgrimage back to the same stretch of river I had explored in the other Pigeon River painting. This time it was leaf season and traffic was snarled for more than 20 miles as the procession of Fall leaf watchers hugged the edges of the mountains. I was never so glad to abandon the main road and take a break in this section of the river away from the city-stye traffic jam. Original ptg: 12” x 18” / acrylic on canvas private collection
/ “The Centre of Your Soul is part of the Abstract Collection..look closely and the brush strokes will seem to coalesce into the imagery expressed in the poem... / I started to create the work with the poem running through my head, and as the brush moved across the paper, the abstract image emerged at the same time as the water, garden, and river made their presence known. / It was exactly as I wanted it to be…a feeling of great depth, a submergence of self, and surrender to the soul. Watercolour and Watercolour mediums on Arches Not Paper… There is a quiet water / In the center of your soul, / Where a son or daughter / Can be taught what no man knows. There’s a fragrant garden / In the center of your soul, / Where the weak can harden / And a narrow mind can grow. There’s a rolling river / In the center of your soul, / An eternal giver / With a rich and endless flow. There’s a land of muses / In the center of your soul, / Where the rich are losers / and the poor are free to go. So remain with me, then, / To pursue another goal / And to find your freedom / In the center of your soul.. J. Kavanaugh

oil painting on canvas, 102×76 cm / I started this one about five years ago … and if you think you’ve seen something similar to this millions of times already – I agree … ...... I did not mind – this was just to make it for myself … for myself I linked it to the idea of the Song of Songs as being a love poetry between God and my Soul …. and so this particular face represents my Soul – saying : “DARK AM I, oh daughters of Jerusalem ….......” / :) / (... it’s kind of finished up today … I will still fiddle with some things on it though ….. as usual ….)
Pure Watercolour / Arches 140lb / W/N Artist Grade paints / 1/4 Sheet I try to wherever possible, use my own images for painting. But sometimes you see a photograph that is just so inspiring you just have to paint it. This was one of those photos. I owe the composition of this with my special thanks to Crissy Watkins (www.dolcevita-images.com) for allowing me to use her wonderful photograph as a reference.

/ Between the greater-soul & fleshed reality are particles, the final tangible reaches of our thought, seeming like something singing out beyond the rugged tabletops of testable existence, & if we had eyes to see this outlandish world, we might see a swirling of mysterious cloudy forms, a blending of ourselves & our surroundings in a mystical dancing light, in salty jewels, our cloudy arms & hands would try to reach our cloudy chairs & sink & blend into a mad phantasmagoria… / We should be afraid until we learned that we were part of it, our bodies swirling clouds of atoms; but what’s important is that we would be seeing at the gate just beyond which is the home of Mystery, source of Soul, which is our truest life, our centrum… / Now where would we be if we stepped forward, through the gate, through the mysterious clouds of unknowing? / This makeshift shadowy world is a metaphor which is our chariot of choice, our light-inducting dark-proof vehicle ready to ride the road & river of space & time, to deliver us from evil, which is all that isn’t, in the vision of the cloud-bodied hungry soul, when it goes through the gate to the mystery of unanswering love.. / We see from there how all things flow outward toward wisdom, & back upon themselves toward joy, & that love is always answering, is the cloud formed into self, which is others & all, at once. E.M. Shorb We stand always on this side of the gate looking through to what is on the other side…it is light sometimes, it is dark at others…dare we go through?...in his brilliant poem Shorb says it for us..
