I have also used a variety of found objects, including lace and ribbons…and an especially beautiful gold paint for the wings which were underpainted first to created texture. On of my favourite paintings, my heart and soul went into this piece…two sweet little girls in darling dresses hanging out in the garden together….what could be nicer.

I decided to create something based on (and in homage to) a song that I used to hear all the time as a child called Open Up Your Heart (And Let the Sun Shine In) . We used to do “fitness” in gym glass in elementary school to the song. Don’t ask me how…we had a weird teacher. This is what came to my mind with the lyrics “smilers never lose, and frowners never win” when it came to that song. It was also a little practice with different brushes in adobe illustrator cs3.
