Painted sunset

  • The third artwork in the Nautical Series. This digital landscape is a digital painting done in both Corel Painter and Photoshop CS2 with a Wacom Intuos3 tablet. No photo references were used. The blazing sun sets behind a dancing ocean. I was going for a minimalistic look here—the beach, the sunset, a single bird. What more could one ask for? Blog Website

  • This is the second version of my ‘Raven’s Rest’ painting. Again, in watercolour. I like this one better, as it conveys more of a ‘painterly’ feel. This is the riverside park, on reclaimed land, on a formerly heavily industrial area on the banks of the river Tyne, in Felling, Gateshead.

  • It began as a pattern and a search for abstraction and happiness in shape. / It turned into circles and stripes. / Before I knew it, all eyes were looking at me: when I just need to be me. / Are they part of me, or something that passes. Or both. / Everything is one when immersed in the sea of love.

  • This one, painted some time early last year (2007) was inspired by my wife. She suggested that a poem she likes, by William Henry Davies, would be a good subject for a painting. The extract of the poem on the painting it’s self reads… “What is life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare … / No time to stand beneath the boughs, and stare as long as sheep or cows. / No time to see, when woods we pass, where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. / A poor life this, if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare.”

  • The fall always brings back memories of running through falling leaves… Mixed media painting – thanks for looking! :)

  • 8×10 Watercolour painting on Arches Paper with a touch of pastel to add texture. I stand and stare in awe at my find / this idyllic place fills my mind. / Time stands still as the mist rolls in and / The sunset announces night will begin. / I feel an awakening deep inside / peace replaces fear and my worries subside.
