  • The sunset represents the sunset at the end of your life. The missing / pieces represent the experiences not yet completed, and at that age / you are a wreck. • for laura to give her to her yoga school.

  • I’ve been on a mission to conquer the abstract-a true measure of an artist, I think, as there is no ‘reality’ to compare it too, no likeness to draw close to. Just you. You decide to continue, or when to stop. When to use the ‘f’ word-as we used to tease our sculpture teacher>there is no such thing as ‘finished’. I think there is. the energy passes-it’s time-if you go over, it become overworked and pushed, forced. And therein lies the art.

  • Not many of Rarotonga’s Tiki’s, such as these have survived into the 20th and 21st Centuries. Housed behind glass and in dark corners with in the recesses of a museum collections do they now stand! My Collage displays it within a context of colour and movement not an object of web and dust collecting.

  • I travel quite a bit in my job. All over the North American Continent. This image was from 2004 in Newport News, VA at sunset. The colors were amazing and the day was pretty crisp. It was just after Hurricane Isabella went through. This little inlet fascinated me with the lighting. I decided to paint it in a Monet style in Photoshop. It took about 8 layers and 12 hours to paint. I tried to keep the strokes delicate, yet bold enough to leave the impression of leaves and lighting. Monet was another of the artists I have always admired through the years. His style was my favored style when I was in high school through my early 20s. I had to try it again in Photoshop to see how I faired. :o) Featured in: / ImageWriting Dec 2009
