Taken in the bush near Alice Springs. Waiting for the sun to come up and saw this dead tree and just had to take a shot with all the colours behind it.

I didn’t plan on ever uploading this, but I’ve really come to like it. I’ve had it as my desktop background for a few days, and, despite its simplicity, I really enjoy it. This is a photo of a painting (original too big to scan) with slight colour changes made in Photoshop. The light effect was caused by the camera flash, and I thnk it works even better than the way it was painted. Used as background for Wish Upon The Rain

John 6: 18-19 “by then a strong wind was blowing and stirring up the water… / they had rowed out about 5 or 6 kilometres when they saw him walking on the water, coming near the boat… and they were terrified”. Acrylic on Canvas

We all seek refuge during the storm. “On life’s journey faith is nourishment, virtuous deeds are a shelter, wisdom is the light by day and right mindfulness is the protection by night. If a man lives a pure life, nothing can destroy him.” / Buddha

Acrylic on canvas. This piece was literally painted either side of a storm, I began the base layers as the clouds welled and the thunder began to rumble, I let it dry as the storm passed, and then completed the final layers. I have decided not to make my paintings available on canvas, as they are already on canvas I feel reproductions should be on a different medium.

A Wave
by Lui Grandeoil on canvas 190×120cm I’ve used “A Wave” by Ivan Aiwazovsky as a model. Even if it is a copy, it took 19 years (!) to paint this. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——- PLEASE READ THIS BEAUTIFUL POEM OF C.C. ASHAGRA —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——- / Author: C.C. Arshagra This poem is Based on at least (3) three events / 1.! See the painting A Wave by artist Jarko 2.! The artists are / With the blessed curse to be beyond what is safe Suffering nothing / And sharing hungry moments somehow satisfied But a ship at sea we are / And the storms will come and be Being Alive / As the rocks catch flesh falling To feed you to the bellies of life / They are all here waiting to choose upon the carnage Or else, the bacteria you are will come to get you / Nothing is clean Especially the most pristine holy truths’ polished / And shined daily with rags of fearful hopes in hiding Buying predators are known here as the civilized people / Holding no mirrors lest the glass reflects outward Save the art works created so fine here by the lone artists ignored / Whose bones and blood are now here scraped off the street The Wall Street express bus speeding did not see the artist crossing / The Brokers on board had only moment before the starting bell … A good thing / The masterpiece was unharmed and there is no will The auctioneers decide not to say / The price they paid Yet the creation of arts’ fall goes on and on / Long … As the breathing lasts © Copyright 1/11/2008 C.C. The story of this painting… / “My childhood in South Africa was on my mind while I painted this landscape. If you have ever been to Africa, you may appreciate why I titled this painting “Veld Storm”... In summer there are afternoon thunderstorms… the sky turns a vivid blue, yet the sun still shines on the land – accentuating the colours. This is a reflection of that time.” / The wonderful thing about afternoon thunderstorms in Africa is that while they are strong they are also brief, and in their wake the sun always comes out again, exploding the sky with the most magnificent sunset as it hits the dissipating storm. I feel the vividness and colours that I have used in this artwork more than adequately depicts this moment in time in Africa. Acrylic On Canvas – 120cm x 40cm

/ From the Series Landscape… “Winter Storm”..... Watercolour on Arches Paper… Announced by all the trumpets of the sky, / Arrives the snow, and, driving o’er the fields, / Seems nowhere to alight: the whited air / Hides hills and woods, the river, and the heaven, / And veils the farmhouse at the garden’s end. / The sled and traveler stopped, the courier’s feet / Delayed, all friends shut out, the housemates sit / Around the radiant fireplace, enclosed / In a tumultuous privacy of storm. Ralph Waldo Emerson

To give an indication of the sheer size and scale of this cloud mass, on the bottom right of this image there are some full-sized pine trees and that small white dot next to them is a huge lighthouse sitting on the end of an island. . . Digital Camera
