These beautiful pear trees bloomed in our backyard every spring when we lived on the little farm near Monroe, Wisconsin. Rendered in pastels, they turned out to be a perfect subject! This painting was awarded a “State Exhibit Award” on February 16, 2008, in the Wisconsin Regional Artists Association Program, which means it is eligible for the state competition in Fall 2008. Of all my recent artwork, this is the one of which I am most proud!

‘Inspirational Series’ card by Karin Taylor Where is Red Dog is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper using ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal. The original painting was inspired by the legend of ‘Red Dog’, aka ‘The Pilbara Wanderer’ of Western Australia. Red Dog was a loyal friend and stout companion to all who knew him. In this painting, the girl on the skateboard represents us in our search for love and acceptance and ‘Red Dog’ symbolises that quintessential spirit of the friend, whose love and acceptance we all yearn for.

Stopping for a call of nature on a car trip, I came across this springtime farm scene which appealed. The ‘comfort call’ was for a 5 year-old by the way, but hey, at my age one never missing an opportunity. Oil on canvas.

This painting is watercolour on paper. I did this in response to a call for entries for an exhibition titled “Outback to Hill End” at the Royal Art Society, Sydney. We went, over Easter, to Hill End itself. It’s an old prospecting town, over the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. / We stayed two days, taking lots of photos and this painting came from a “gift”. The sun had dropped down low and the clouds were banked up in the East. Click! one moment and I had got it! And the next moment, the magic was gone. The sun went behind more clouds. In fact it was cloudy most of the time we were there and was disappointing in that way, because I love to paint the contrast of sun and shadow. But there was just enough sun to satisfy me, mostly morning and evening, and I may paint some more of this fascinating area. And…..............hardly a spot of water to be seen. Mind you, I did go down to the river where they used to pan for gold and got some shots in. Nothing I fancy painting yet though. Interestingly, there are now four exploratory mines there and it looks like they will be operational in the future, still plenty of gold there. Thank you once again for all the kind comments, faves and watches. See more of Freda’s works: / Boats / City / Fractals / Stillife / Figures / Landscape Freda’s website
