I had a lovely surprise this week, to find out I had been featured All About Your Best Work What a fantastic feeling! A huge thanks to those involved in the selection :) The weather has noticed the season again / And shifts mercilessly between sunshine and rain / And I can move forward, whilst waiting still / And drink up a cup / Of a new creative fill oh how quaint, she learns to paint

Feels like forever since I have spent any real time painting. So much to do, settling into this location and getting my Studio all set up. Still much to do, but I really must get more painting done. I tend to get a bit strange when I don’t paint enough. I would imagine that most artists are like that. A gray and gloomy day here in Ocala, but perfect for painting. Have been doing a lot of bird watching from my front porch and have been taking lots of photos. Thought that would be a fun thing to start a series on….... my front yard birds. Have started a painting of a Red Bellied Woodpecker. Also working on a landscape…..... Will post finished results soon.

At 5:30am this morning Tommy, Mandy (swearing scotswoman) and I met Arrarat reserve French’s Forrest and in pouring rain, pitch blackness we headed off with head lamps and big LED torches which usually throw off heaps of light but the rain was SO heavy we couldn’t see much in front of us. It was like running thru a cyclone and the amount of water created waterfalls of immense size on every track. Incredible. We all wish we’d taken cameras (waterproof of course). You have to laugh at the insanity of it all. Just wild. / Bates Creek was such a massive river we had to back track to the roads and then head back down to the harbour tracks. Never seen such a high tide, waves so far up middle harbour, sewer outlets had blown their covers and water was gushing out up to a metre high. Little trickles of water usually were now massive waterfalls which were pretty tricky to navigate and we all held onto each other to get thru. Trees down everywhere which you have to climb over. It was daylight and 1 1/2 hours by the time we’d done 10km’s and we were then at Davidson park under the Roseville bridge. From there we had to cross 2 streams at waist high depth, again holding onto one another and finally got to the pipeline and then out of Garrigal. / We found our favourite Mandarin tree and quickly downed a few each for a sugar hit and back to cars…3 hours for 21km’s. Pretty slow, eh? / What an adventure though, so unreal/surreal! / Mandy can’t wait to run with us again. We’ll never forget this one! What next; running thru a cyclonic storm/tornado/ gale force winds…done it! / Next big run in two weeks time if anyone wants to come……… / Glad I’m not cycling this afternoon. I’m stuffed. I’m fixing up graphics on my bicycle imagery on which i’d done all this French typo and apparently I’m about to start world war 3 if the French ever see it! So, with my mother in law on phone and email we’re trying to sort out what i was trying to say and I’m painting over and repainting it all. What a pain in the quoit! Then Michael has to re photogrpah it all! Arrrgghh! I can’t remember what i was trying to say either, that hasn’t helped. a coffee would help. Finished off first Cuban car last night and it looks cool. looking forward to doing the next 5. I’m painting them on canvas, loaded with plaster then sanding back.

It’s mid August and it’s dark, cold and raining. I just can’t get going on my female torso painting and I have 2 partly finished Elvis portraits staring me in the face. Can’t get going today – all I wanna do is play Rise of Nations on the comp!
