These beautiful pear trees bloomed in our backyard every spring when we lived on the little farm near Monroe, Wisconsin. Rendered in pastels, they turned out to be a perfect subject! This painting was awarded a “State Exhibit Award” on February 16, 2008, in the Wisconsin Regional Artists Association Program, which means it is eligible for the state competition in Fall 2008. Of all my recent artwork, this is the one of which I am most proud!

This painting is watercolour on paper. I did this in response to a call for entries for an exhibition titled “Outback to Hill End” at the Royal Art Society, Sydney. We went, over Easter, to Hill End itself. It’s an old prospecting town, over the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. / We stayed two days, taking lots of photos and this painting came from a “gift”. The sun had dropped down low and the clouds were banked up in the East. Click! one moment and I had got it! And the next moment, the magic was gone. The sun went behind more clouds. In fact it was cloudy most of the time we were there and was disappointing in that way, because I love to paint the contrast of sun and shadow. But there was just enough sun to satisfy me, mostly morning and evening, and I may paint some more of this fascinating area. And…..............hardly a spot of water to be seen. Mind you, I did go down to the river where they used to pan for gold and got some shots in. Nothing I fancy painting yet though. Interestingly, there are now four exploratory mines there and it looks like they will be operational in the future, still plenty of gold there. Thank you once again for all the kind comments, faves and watches. See more of Freda’s works: / Boats / City / Fractals / Stillife / Figures / Landscape Freda’s website

Stopping for a call of nature on a car trip, I came across this springtime farm scene which appealed. The ‘comfort call’ was for a 5 year-old by the way, but hey, at my age one never missing an opportunity. Oil on canvas.

If you were to travel a path that only exists in your dreams, it might look like this. The colors are brighter and bolder… and they have more meaning. It may look like there’s only one route you can take, but is there? This work was created with watercolor and pastel on 22×30” paper.

This is one of my own favourite paintings. I did it over 20 years ago and takes prode of place in my Lounge room. I painted it off a photo my dad took on my parents first trip. A few years later I was able to go there myself and find the spot and take my own picture, mine was not as appealing as dad’s as the mountains did not have the nice layered look as this one. Painted in Oils.

Abstract Macro Photography its stuff like this shot that makes me really excited about my chosen style of photography. fookin love it! / i sometimes cannot believe the abstract macro shots that i come across on my travels, and this one it one of my new found favorites Image was approx 4inch X 2inch on a wall a good 50 foot tall by around 400 meters long and running the whole length of a old disused work site. / So it wasnt what you would call a small wall. Its HUGE / I have shot here before and studied the wall close up. / There is so much for my eyes to look at that my eyes couldnt focus on anything, probably too over excited with my find, but i came away with very little. / This time i took a few steps back from the wall and i could see and capture, so much more than when i was close up.
Acrylic painting on Canvas. / I don’t feel certain that this is complete. I am still feeling that it needs something. Maybe a broken down fence or a bicycle tire left on the side of the road. But as always I appreciate any feedback. /
