The main stencil image is one layer of the four layer stencil I created in early 2008 inspired by my interest in fashion photography. ‘Snow and Umbrella’ is 1 of 3, utilising the same same stencil and composition of works I’ve posted on Red Bubble at the moment. The other is ‘Rain Birds’ and ‘Umbrella and Rain’.

Sunsets at Menindee Lakes can be awesome. / (803 views) / Giclee Reproductions are available: visit www.suehodge.com.au / For more prints by Sue Hodge visit: http://ochresands.redbubble.com The following is from the NSW Tourism website: / http://www.visitnsw.com/town/Menindee/Menindee_Lake_System/info.aspx The Menindee Lakes System begins on the Darling River about 200 kilometres upstream from the junction of the Darling and Murray rivers at Wentworth. There are four main lakes, Lake Menindee, Lake Cawndilla, Lake Pamamaroo, and Lake Wetherell created from a series of natural depressions that filled during floods. The Menindee Lakes and Darling River were a lifeline for early explorers and it was thought the Darling would provide a means to develop Australia’s interior. The flows of the river proved to be unreliable causing difficulties with navigation and water supply and the idea of using the Menindee Lakes for water conservation was born in the late 1890s. Today the lakes and dams create a welcome water haven in the arid Outback landscape as well as a bird-watchers paradise where bird watching tours are highly recommended.

From drizzle to drowning. From dawn to middle of the night dreams that wake me up with a “pow.” That’s it. The answer. Then in the morning the drift falls from a darkened hollow into swirls of vapor and across a seaweed forest. My pencil scrapes. My brush strokes. Awaken. Awake to dream again. A struggle to find an answer that is forgotten in the effort to do do do what I think I must must must and drive myself crazy trying to escape. To sleep on my feet in a daydream of forest palms towering over and pools of languid, blue, mirrors instead of piles of dirty laundry. Or maybe it is all really the same. / The answer laying in the soft white shift of a sheet from a drier in sunlight and waving at the light’s own laughter at the sun. / acrylic on fabric. about 4 ft x 7 ft not stretched. Acrylic On Canvas All the subjects in the forest respect and adore their Guardian, Lady Leah. She loves and cares for the forest like her family and does her constant utmost best to protect this beautiful habitat that is home to thousands of different species, saving them from the ill fate that mankind brings upon them. The drifting shadow of day’s end gripped the steering wheel of my mind and made me somehow panic. I was going nowhere. Or was I just wanting escape. / The path turned right and then left and then I was going in a circle. Yet I seemed to be seeing something different every time. Faces that passed seemed familiar, yet spoke different words than I remembered. Flowers that once bloomed now fluttered dried up on brown limbs. Flies zoomed about yesterday’s luxury. Then I see the sign that reads “HOME.” I turn away and follow the arrows. Is it a brick floor or the surface of a river that bubbles under my feet? Once again I open the gate, run up the steps, waltz past the entrance, and slide across a mirror, only to see myself and a reflection of where I have been. / I was never lost. Though I wanted to be. It sounded fun, exciting and provocative. And for now, I think I choose to run back out to the street. Even if I am going in circles. “Sometimes Lost is Found” is acrylic on paper 15”x20”
A cord beats with my heart in patterns that I usually ignore. I try to synchronize to the sounds of those around and it only hurts my ears, my soul, my brain, by slow sluggish attempt to live as a “normal” person. There are many chords that flow through my being. Once I hear them I am happy if I follow their song. Other cords strangle and other connect to living energy and others are simply chains. Beat, beat, beat, my heart which thinks it is more than muscle just as my brain thinks it is more than tissue, just as my eyes believe they see, just as my touch feels it is something more than a dream of of of of of of … / What? That’s the point. I don’t know. Yet I do. Cords and Chords. Acrylic on paper

An acrylic painting on canvas 60cm x 30cm of the sun setting over the shadowed land. Night is approaching and the sun paints the sky with its sizzling rays in protest of its retreat.
