  • This is a painting i had done five years back using water soluble pastels.I seldom name my own paintings, they get their names from my family when they are making some silly reference to them like, ‘Rice Paddy Girl’ .I think i should stick with her real name as silly as it sounds.

  • Medium – Pencil drawing on A1 size Kent cartridge paper. Art & Design theme Extension of the Senses of Man (Woman) / Always had a passion for direct observational drawing/painting from life/nature, especially to observe and study the human figure/form/anatomy. / The skin is our largest sensory organ and requires the extension of clothing for its protection against the environmental elements. Thinly draped clothing veiled over the human form provides ample study of soft falling movements along body lines, flowing shapes & patterns etc. I wanted to explore the human form/skin/clothing outdoors in the natural environment as apposed to life models posing in a protective drawing room set-up that I had been so far exposed to. / / Process: / Stage 1) Exploring the extension of the senses by exposing the human form/skin/clothing to the natural physical elements of water, air and earth/sand at a public beach landscape and documenting this through the photographic medium. Two fellow art students modelled for me in loose light negligee clothing. Stage 2) From there I developed a B&W photographic series learning several darkroom manipulation techniques in the process. Stage 3) From the resultant photographic imagery (on the human structure, female shapes and forms, skin & cloth exposured to the natural elements of water, wind/air, earth/sand/rock in the landscape) I further explore and study the inherent structure and ‘dynamics’ of several images and produce several drawings. / / I think my two fellow art student models totally enjoyed the creative photographic documentation experience, even though they got cold, wet and buried in sand, and I, the photographer stayed dry!

  • A black and white pastel on black acid free paper of the beautiful, cascading Horseshoe Waterfalls, Australia. What delight we felt when we first discovered this. It was located at the end of our street where we used to live and was only a 5 minute walk, that took us to a peaceful place where we could forget the world for a while. It is still only a 10 minute drive away. Waterfalls are usually geological formations resulting from water, often in the form of a stream flowing over an erosion-resistant rock that forms a nickpoint or sudden break in elevation. Whatever the description waterfalls are a natural wonder and there are some breathtaking ones all over the world. The waterfall drops its sparkling veil / covering its rock face leaving slippery trails / twinkling drops of water bursting in the light / its beauty never ending even at night! • If you were to travel a path that only exists in your dreams, it might look like this. The colors are brighter and bolder… and they have more meaning. It may look like there’s only one route you can take, but is there? This work was created with watercolor and pastel on 22×30” paper.

  • / “9” is the first of a new series called “Pure Abstraction”...the title refers to the number of triangles that are apparent to the eye at first glance… all my Still Life paintings are made up of triangles and it appears that my subconscious is at work here as well, as I did not consciously plan the shapes or the number in advance…I always let paintings evolve as they will, using materials that come to hand…you can call it automatic painting, but there is no doubt there is real significance to what emerges in the end... Nine is a very significant number, and references to it occurs in mythology, the occult, the Bible, to name a few, and in mathematical science it possesses properties and powers which are found in no other number….it is the number of finality or judgement There are many layers to the painting, which evolved, as I said, almost from a subconscious need to express myself in this particular way…I think here the viewer becomes very significant in that it allows a diiferent dialogue each time the painting is seen…an abstract work engages the viewer in ways that are totally different from any other genre... Inks, Pastels, Watercolour, and Acrylic on Masonite.

  • The weather for this years Winter Magic Festival was a bit of everything. But even though there was rain and fog and it was cold… it didn’t stop the crowds from enjoying themselves! Late in the afternoon the mist started to roll in and it was getting dark.. a few storeholders were starting to pack up but the street was still full of people. I took a photo at the time because I really liked the atmosphere and then when I had my week away recently, I let myself start to play with it! This is the result so far… I think I would like to try a few other ideas too… : )) Mixed Media on canvas paper. / 40.5×60
