When I first joined Femine Intent I told one of the hosts, Lina, that I had something in mind for this group. What I wanted was to show the part of me that I value so much and have enbraced with all my heart. So, Lina … I finally completed it!! Native women have drummed for many years. The drum represents the universal heartbeat of Mother Earth – the universal mother to us all. The sound that was heard first in the world was her heartbeat. The first sound a baby hears in the womb is the heartbeat of his Mother. The heartbeat is manifested through playing a special rhythm on the drum. This rhythm facilitates healing and realignment of the four realms of human existence (Mental, Spiritual, Emotional, Physical) because Great Mystery and Mother Earth revolve around the rhythm. The drum creates a hum that rests between the voice and the drum—the hum is the spirit of the Ancestors. Many years ago, a group of Lenape drummers invited me to drum with them. We met once a week for several years. During that time, they taught me many songs and chants, some in the Native Lenape tongue. I felt a sense of belonging that I have never felt before. Belonging to these people and the universe itself. I am grateful to these men and women of the Lenape tribe for their teachings and allowing me to drum along with them all those years. II made this picture Rainbow colors to represent the Rainbow tribe. “_The Rainbow Tribe consists of everyone, of native and non-native blood,who believe that in our coming together as a tribe of people, of all colors, we will make the one true tribe of two-legged ones that we are. _ I personally own many drums; currently I own seven drums. Three of my drums are pictured here and were all made especially for me by Shari Kestenbaum. / Bear … / / Owl … / / Harris Hawk … / The picture of the woman drumming is a favorite picture of mine. At the top it states … “As We Drum … We are One” and the inspiration at the bottom reads : / The DRUM is Great Spirit’s favorite instrument . You always made me feel special. I will never forget that. It seemed that your happiness was based on how happy you could make me! We shined when we were together. I remember. You were the light in my soul. Then you went away in secret. I was scared but I didn’t want you to know. Did you know that I waited for you outside because they would not let me in? I tried so hard to send you my thoughts. I believed I could. It did not make me afraid that they would think there was something wrong with me but it terrified me that they believed there was something wrong with you. Maybe they did not know that you were the light in my soul. When you finally came back to me, you were changed. I had to give you your light back but it was never quite enough. But you remembered how we shined so brightly together and when you told me I saw your light come back. I looked for you today. I knew you would be looking for me too. The glow and the afterglow of a time that we spent together will forever stay in my mind. There will be no scars, no fears, and should have or should not haves. The sacredness of our touch and our intentions in those moments together will be the medicine that heals the mind of past memories and thoughts that were planted so long ago that would twist the purity of two becoming one. Let me live in the glow of purity and goodness and all that I believe to be sacred and true. And let me never forget that I chose these moments and created them with joy and love in my heart. I will allow nothing to diminish them to anything less, especially not judgements of life once lived or a future that is yet to be lived. Everything has an aura … a light body that surrounds it. In the distant past, people admired things they could not explain and called them “miracles”. Long ago, people were able to see Auras. Advanced spiritual people such as Buddha, Christ and their immediate students were painted with golden haloes around their heads, because some artists could actually see Auras. In Australia remote West Kimberleys you can find prehistoric cave paintings many thousands of years old, depicting people with golden halos. Nature gave us ALL we need to see Auras. All is required is the knowledge to use your senses together with your conscious effort.

In the enchanted forest, deep in the woods, you will find a clearing. Within this clearing there is a fairy ring that can only be seen by those who have the knowingness within them. Behind the fairy ring is a giant tree …. the mystics tree. / Late at night before the darkness goes to complete black, the mystics tree calls to those who can hear. They gather around the tree and wait …. / If you happen to be in the enchanted forest just before the darkness takes hold, you will be part of the bewitching hour around the mystic tree. Secrets from the ancient ones float into the air and vanish quickly. When the mystic appears, all is silent and the forest magic slowly diminishes as the mystic sleeps invisibly beneath his fabled tree. Judi Taylor 2009
