  • This is a painting i had done five years back using water soluble pastels.I seldom name my own paintings, they get their names from my family when they are making some silly reference to them like, ‘Rice Paddy Girl’ .I think i should stick with her real name as silly as it sounds.

  • Paddy’s Pub © Vicki Ferrari This was taken at Inverell Pioneer Village in New South Wales, Australia. I would have to have been there when it was a real pub and to have met all the characters that would have been there and to hear all their stories! It reminds me of time gone. When I was there, I could almost hear the horses hooves and hear people talking! It has a peaceful feel to it. • Rice paddy in Balapusuh, Central Java, Indonesia. 2007. This photo was taken during a trip to my mother’s hometown. I’ve always been a city girl, but my mother is originally from a small, rural, underdeveloped village in central Java. / I’ve always found it rather fascinating how the people living in the village manage to live happily despite being very poor and unprivileged.

  • Amazingly it seems I omitted to upload ths piece to my RB account. This is a piece I did with UF last Paddy’s day. I had completely forgotten about my sister’s birthday – more shame on me, so I did this as a birthday e-card idea. Whack for The Paddy-O is a development of this piece and is my 2009 Paddy’s Day Card Happy Paddy’s Day once again! This can be representative of a number of things – a button I think fits best for me….

  • In early spring, the farmers in Korea flood their rice and water lily paddies to get them ready for planting later in the spring. This one provided great subject matter. I enjoyed the tracks left by the tractor and the reflections of the trees scattered amongst them.

  • Ifugao Girl – Northern Luzon, Philippines. The Ifugao People are the predominant ethnic group in this part of Northern Luzon, Philippines. Their incredible rice terraces are very, very old. Many anthropologists consider these terraces to be among mankind’s greatest achievements. They are located at Banaue, about 12 hours north of Manila.

  • Paddy’s Nut is a remote peak in the centre of Cradle Mountain – Lake St. Clair National Park

  • Some of the world’s most spectacular scenery can be found near the Li River town of Yangshou in southern China. Sheer limestone karst towers and grags rise between rice paddy fields and quaint villages. At the start of the wet season, mist lingers around the outcrops while brilliant green young rice carpets the valley floor. This photograph was taken in 1982, not long after the upheavals of Chairman Mao’s Cultural Revolution, when paddy fields became communal property. Nikon FM2 camera and 28mm nikkor lense, kodachrome slide film. The original slide was scanned at 3600 dpi and the dirt and mould removed as well as possible in photoshop with the image enlarged at 200%.
