The Hailstorm extends about 10km westward from the North End of Lake Opeongo. It used to be a seldom visited area and you could see Moose, Otter, Deer and many other smaller animals. You just sat very still in your canoe, let the wind drift you, now and then make a gentle paddle stroke for direction and alltogether let the Good Lord be a nice man.

Canada day today, was up 5:00am to catch the sunrise, took my old camera and got this shot, looking to the mainland B.C. from east coast Vancouver Island, lots of seals checking me out no decent shots though, Happy Birthday Canada!!!!
WAVERLEY is the last sea-going paddle steamer in the world. This photo was taken on a typically dreich summer’s day as the Waverley made her way around Shuna on a day trip from Oban.
