Blue lily taken down at the dam…....
On a visit to the Jardin Botanique in Montreal I was captivated by the Chinese Garden. Various ponds and streams had huge floating islands of lily pads. But it was not until I rested that I discovered these two lily pads and the reflections, just over the side of the bench I was sitting on. Taken in macro mode. Nikon D40, 18-55mm lens. “Life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences, but rather it is a tapestry of acts that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan.” -from the movie Serendipity Featured in the Natural Color and Light group February 2009 / Avatar for Nirvana group December 2008 / Featured in the Abstracts From Nature group July 2008.

“Clouds on the Water, Fire Near the Sky” / Purchase a Mouse Pad of this image I happened onto this gorgeous sunrise over the White River at a time when the water was at its lowest. I was delighted to catch the calm surface for reflections, as the low rising sun was casting its first orange glow over the autumn colors.

Green Heron falling easy prey to the Sigma 50-500mm, after he landed literally 10 yards away from me. Got images of him catching three fish and a dragonfly. I have been stalking this guy for over a year now, finally got a few keepers. Taken with Nikon D300 and Sigma 50-500mm.

FEATURED IN SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION / FEATURED IN ALL SOFT AND CUDDLIES!! / FEATURED IN A BEAUTIFUL BLUR / FEATURED IN ALPHABET SOUP / FEATURED IN PHOTOGRAPHY 101 This little duckling got separated from his mother and was / hiding under a bush. When I approached to take a picture he kept trying to hide and eventually ran across the water and hopped on this lily pad in the middle of the pond. He stayed there until I left and when I looked back he swam back to shore. I thought he was so cute as if to say “I am safe here because you can’t see me on this lily pad” Nikon D90
This photo was taken at Hughes Water Gardens (Tualatin, Oregon) inside a greenhouse. I think the shadows of the frame of the greenhouse has an interesting effect. These giant lily pads are rough 4’ in diameter. You can actually sit an 3 year old in them. These pads grow to this size in one season from a seed. Image captured at dawn in the Sukhothai Historical Park. The Historic Town of Sukhothai and Associated Historic Towns is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Sukhothai was the capital of the first Kingdom of Siam in the 13th and 14th centuries. It has a number of fine monuments, illustrating the beginnings of Thai architecture. The great civilization which evolved in the Kingdom of Sukhothai absorbed numerous influences and ancient local traditions; the rapid assimilation of all these elements forged what is known as the ‘Sukhothai style’.
