I took this image in the gardens of the Huguenot monument in Franschhoek, situated not too far from Cape Town, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. / The Huguenot monument is dedicated to the cultural influences that French Huguenots have brought to the Cape Colony (and ultimately the whole of South Africa) after their immigration during the 17th and 18th centuries.
Mountains surrounding Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa I took this photograph from the Seidelberg Wine Estate
This abstract image was taken at the Afrikaanse Taalmonument (Monument for the Afrikaans language) just outside Paarl in the Western Cape province of South Africa.
I was staying in the Paarl Valley and was fortunate to have the sun setting on the opposite side and each day had a different sunset. I took a number of photos on this day as the sunset was so wonderful – three of them of this scene with the sun in shot. On the other two, I lost the definition of the sun so chose this one, although I did have to tweek the contrast & histograms to try and “draw the horse out” in the foreground (by “trial and error” and “I think that looks about right” as this is new to me so I would welcome your comments on whether I’ve overdone it/underdone it!) I also took another without the sun in shot. You can see that here
This is a second image of the horse I took whilst in Paarl. For this one I had decided to try taking into the sun, but without the Sun in shot. You can see the other shot here

Afrikaans Language Monument, Paarl, South Africa
The monument consists of various tapering structures of a convex and concave nature, symbolising influences of different languages and cultures on Afrikaans itself, as well as political developments in South Africa. This picture features my brother and his girlfriend.
My first attempt at doing a cross processed technique, playing around with curves in PS CS. I would love any feedback :-) The goat is one of the Fairview Wine Estate family of goats. This is wine estate in the Paarl region of the Western Cape in South Africa. It is famous for it’s wine and cheeses and even has a wine label “Goats Will Roam”. It was taken while meeting up with other Bubblers-Sandra Ros & Heather Nel
