Australia
Uluru is an amazing place, filled with rich vibrant colour and steeped in tradition and story time. I took this photo on my last trip to Uluru. The sunrise had just finished and the tourist buses were beginning to leave. This gave me a great opportunity to capture the rich colour at this time of day but without the crowds. To add another element to the composition I decided to include the Kangaroo Road Sign. / / Photo Taken: 29-Nov-2005 / Time: Early, 7:30am / Conditions: Beautiful clear morning / / / / / / / / / / Some other Australian Red Centre art: / / / /
It was an early morning start. I was meeting a friend for a sunrise shoot. The location was all planned out, so was the time – unfortunately we still missed each other. It was my fault. I went to the South end of the beach, he was at the Northern end. / / Sometimes a mistake can actually turn into luck, and this was the case here. A wonderfully still morning, beautiful light and the moon to boot….. / / I did eventually meet up with my friend after he finally answered his mobile, but wow was I glad I overshot the Northern Entrance…. I believe this was my first early wake up to go out and shoot a sunrise seascape. Only a couple of weeks back we were at Narrabeen with friends. It was a late afternoon and I just could not believe the colour. I was determined to come back with my camera. That particular morning was just magic. Perfectly still, mild and the colours did not dissapoint. Photo Taken: 23-Jan-2006 / Time: 50:30am / Conditions: Great sunny morning / / / / / / / / / / / / Some other seascape art: / / / / / / /
A planned get-together with a mate fell through. So instead my son and I went to North Narrabeen beach and took advantage of some magical light and conditions to capture the coast during winter time. / For a very long time this image was my favourite. I was just amazed at how much light was absorbed by the wooden planks, contrast that with the smooth silky water. Driving along this almost deserted highway we spotted this Love heart, somewhere between Uluru and Kings Canyon. An amazing piece of work, literally in the middle of nowhere. Hence the title, Love is all around…even in the middle of nowhere….. Sydney is not only blessed by a beautiful coastline providing us with countless beaches, but also some of these beaches have a “rock pool” at the headland. These rock pools provide a great place for the locals to take a dip in the ocean without the waves. Photo Taken: 19-Nov-2006 / Time: 6am / Conditions: Calm, beautiful pre dawn…. / / / / / / / / / / / Some other seascape art: / / / / / / /
Caught this with my zoom. Noticed nature intertwined with man made landscape…parallel electricity wires. The fog helped to hide all other elements in the landscape. A few seconds later this fleeting moment was lost as the magpie took flight. The place where we stayed in Samui had this beautiful pond with this one Water Lily. What a beautiful flower, one that fascinated me over the time we were there…. Photo Taken: 03-Jan-2007 / Time: Early, 2:30pm / Conditions: Sunny / / / / / / / Some other samui art: / / / / / / /
A great challenge for me is to take my camera and my 35mm prime lens for a walk through the Sydney CBD and see if I can see everyday things a little differently. Everyday is different, everyday is a challenge and a great break up of the day for me. Photo Taken: 25-Jul-2007 / Time: 2pm / Conditions: Sunny winters day
The light was changing every minute. I climbed over some huge rocks to get into a great position to take some surfing shots, when suddenly this huge cloud covered up the sun. Suddenly the beautiful light illuminating the waves the surfers were riding was gone. I looked to my left and noticed the light here. Quickly, I grabbed my stuff and setup this shot…..only got one frame, because soon after this the light here was also gone. The Sydney Royal Easter show is a chance for the country to come to town and show the city people what country life is all about. Different competitions, events and showcases are run during the show. Here we have a little piglet taking timeout from the fast pace of the show….amazing that he can sleep as thousands of people try and squeeze through to get a glimpse of all the different animals…. Photo Taken: 11-Apr-2006 / Time: 12pm / Conditions: Hall, luckily this little fella was right next to a huge wide door with naural light coming in.
There is a great walk you can do between two of Sydneys most famous beaches. The Bondi to Bronte walk follows a magnificent coastal path taking in breathtaking views of the ocean below as well as Bronte and Bondi Beach. Photo Taken: 01-Aug-2005 / Time: Around 2:30pm / Conditions: A warm perfect winters day in Sydney
Sometimes even mistakes can turn out right. Here I woke up really early, way too early as I misjudged the time for a sunrise. So for an hour or so I was just waiting for the light. As the moon descended this opportunity arouse. This shot is taken at a point where on one side of the beach you can see east and watch the sunrise and basically just turn around and face west and watch the moon set. At this point the resort was abandoned, hence the chair. I only moved it slightly to improve the composition. Photo Taken: 04-Jan-2007 / Time: Early, somewhere between 5 and 6am / Conditions: Calm, really beautiful / / / / / / / Some other seascape art: / / / / / / /
Man made lake taking center stage in Australias Capital city, Canberra. The lake is huge and this is just one inlet….a perfect winters sunset. Photo Taken: 05-Aug-2006 / Time: Around 6pm / Conditions: Canberra cool, beautiful clear sky

Time in Hong Kong went really fast. Time for photos was limited. This is one hectic modern city, filled with an amazing number of people, living, surviving and dreaming together, closer than one can imagine. Hence when you look at the shot all the little lights represent someones dream, their aspirations, their life…. I bought some Singh Ray filters mid November. I did not get a chance to try them out until after Xmas – says a lot about the mad rush leading up to this period of the year. After using them I am in awe as to how effective they are. Bank holiday….what do you do? As a sub contractor for a bank, I gladly accepted a day off and headed for the hills. Woke up really early and traveled out to the outskirts of Sydney. Had a great few hours of photography. I found this spot by accident. Nature called, so I had to pull to the side of the road. In the distance I noticed a gorgeous valley. I decided to try and find it. After a bit of trial and error bingo, another spot. This awesome palm was in our villa complex….I waited until the light from the moon and the moon itself were in position before taking this shot….a slight sea breeze give the shot some motion….. I love going out to the Wisemans Ferry area, esp. on a crisp wintery morning. In this case the fog was very heavy and it took a long time to lift, hence the title “Good morning sunshine”. I just came back from a last minute two week business trip to Hong Kong. Only had a few chances to take the camera out and usually only at night. This is the first weeks effort. Taken from the Kowloon side looking at Hong Kong Island across Victoria Harbour. On this particular Sunday we (my family) decided to play tourist in our home town. Late afternoon we decided to explore a few parks in and around North Sydney. In the end we ended up at Sydneys famous Luna Park. Photo Taken: 04-Aug-2008 / Time: 17:45 / Conditions: Cool winters dusk / / / / / / / / / / / / / Some other Sydney based art: / / / / / / /
The plan was: .....a nice casual hike about 3hrs to take in the beautiful mountains around Grindelwald. The reality was a +6hr hike through the beautiful mountains around Grindelwald. Reason for the extended play was that at our planned destination, which was a bus stop, we discover that the buses stopped running the week before…..so we had to make our way down from a height of 2300m to about 1100m (to Grindelwald village). This was taken heading down from the abandoned bus stop….if we caught the bus, there would be no magic light…. / / / / / Photo Taken: 21-Oct-2008 / Time: 4:30 pm / Conditions: Stunning autumn day / Some other European landscapes: / / / / / / /
