  • ‘Lite’ version.

  • A small section of Pauite Petroglyphs on volcanic rock with the White Mountains in the background. These types of geometric symbols are typical of the beginning stage of hallucinagenic trance of a shaman. Owens Valley, California. / ........ / All images are © Nolan Nitschke. • ‘escape the stresses of everyday life and retreat to a simpler time’

  • This digital painting of a cowboy in a predicament is published by a national company as a greeting card and other gift products (mugs, magnets, t-shirts, etc.) The card has a verse inside “hope things are looking up,” a satirical greeting of hope and well wishes to anyone going through tough times. Whether in a western setting, humorous or serious, it is a look at the way life sometimes puts us at odds with seemingly impossible situations… you either laugh or cry, and pray like crazy. Now available as a print. Nate Owens / My Web Site

  • Mountain Man in this acrylic painting is being plagued by bugs – probably one of the many annoying events in his daily life. art by Nate Owens / My Web Site

  • An early-day encounter with telemarketers, perhaps? – Or was it tech-support on the job…? This is a good one for anyone plagued by annoying calls or technology. My Web Site

  • Wild-eyed horse expressing himself. / My Web Site

  • Tempera and gold leaf on wood / Year 2004 30cm x 42 cm Oringinal oil painting / by / Marinella

  • A truelly amazing petroglyph made by the Paiute Indians native to the Owens Valley. These glyphs are carved into very hard volcanic rock. Some say these are representations of the shamans hallucinogenic journeys. All content & images are © Nolan Nitschke. You may not use any images in any way without written consent from artist. • This was taken in Little Lakes Valley, Eastern Sierras, Ca. I have submitted a few different photos from this hike and the lighting was just so intimate that I may just remember that day forever. This is the one furthest down the trail and closest to the mountains in the background. There are many meadows along the trail and they are usually very lush but by summer’s end they start to dry out like this. I thought it made for some nice contrast. You can see a little bit of the trail on the right leading into the pines.

  • This was taken on my way down from a long scramble up to Treasure Lakes, Little Lakes Valley, Eastern Sierra. It was raining a little here and there but I kept going because I’m not one to turn back once I’m 5 miles into a hike. Luckily the clouds began to break and it became a beautiful afternoon in the end.

  • One of my favorite hikes in the Eastern Sierras is through Little Lakes Valley. The trail follows Rock Creek to its source high in the mountains and continues on to connect with other trails. This was taken near the Mosquito Flats Trailhead in late summer. I still caught a few wildflowers in bloom since the valley is so lush.

  • This is the HDR version of this photograph. The weather was really beautiful and ominous that day. Everytime the sun would peek out I would drop everything and set up my tripod. This is Little Lakes Valley and I’m still amazed that I live so close to something so beautiful. This trail eventually ascends Morgan Pass and up into the alpine High Sierras. You can see them in the far background.

  • The Owens River and the Eastern Sierra peaks Mt. Tom, Basin, and Humphreys, California. All images are © Nolan Nitschke. You may not use this image in any way without written consent from artist. All Rights Reserved.

  • The Owens Valley has numerous petroglyph site. These petroglyph’s may have been made by the Paiute/Shoshone Indians but arrowheads that date to 10,000 years old have been found in this area, so it is difficult to say who really created them. In the background is White Mountain Peak, the third tallest in California at 14,252 ft. Owens Valley, Eastern Sierras, California. All images are © Nolan Nitschke. • I return to this exact spot a lot. I have to say it is one of my favorite places to take photographs. This canyon is one of nature’s great cathedrals. It’s hard to explain the feeling that comes over you when you are standing there staring out across the water…Especially during this time of year, when there is nobody else out there. You can have the whole place to yourself, or share it with someone special.

  • First light on the Eastern Sierras and a field of wild iris. Eastern Sierras, Owens Valley, Ca. All images are © Nolan Nitschke. You may not use this image in any way without written consent from artist. All Rights Reserved.

  • The remains of the old pier. Owen Sound Harbour. aprox 100 years ago it was built… / Owen Sound Ontario Canada.

  • This one might go down well with selachophobics . / (Okay, I’m not being flash. I Googled ‘Fear of Sharks’) /

  • I had this rather profound thought while driving today…then realised it probably isn’t profound at all, but quite funny…well, I thought so anyway… / So here it is on a tee and yes, the little tv is based on the one seen on the iPhone…so sue me.

  • This digital artwork is a ‘full frame’ version (as opposed to a vignette) created for a WWF FDC envelope design ( 1 of 4) . I decided to paint a ‘panoramic’ background, even though most of it will be vignetted out when used for an FDC envelope design. I thought it was such a dramatic piece of coastline, it would make an attractive larger ‘full frame’ poster and print, alongside the usual ‘vignetted’ and much smaller FDC version which I will post shortly. The background alone took 48 hours to paint and was made up of 6 separate layers: Sky /Clouds/ and four sections of the terrain overlapping eachother. Doing it in layers allowed me more freedom to adjust each one tonally to give the impression of ‘atmospherics’, so the most distant part of the coastline is much ‘cooler’ and slightly blurred, than the more close up part which is ‘warmer’ and sharper.

  • How could anyone resist at least a grin, just looking at this guy?
