Horseshoe Bend is the name for a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, in the United States. It is located slightly downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell, about four miles or 6 km south of Page. Accessible via a 3⁄4-mile (1.2 km) hike from U.S. Route 89, it can be viewed from the steep cliff above, forming a spectacular vista. / This image is actually made of 4 pictures taken with my Canon 20D – 17-40mm L lens and stitched together to create this panoramic
I just love Rocky Mountain National Park, spose I always have and always will, though I have to admit that at times I wish we had more clouds in the skies here in Colorado, but I suppose the infamous blues make up for that. The Rockies here just seemed so alive…in that morning light.,...damn that air is fresh I tell ya folks! Anyways, thoughts welcomed, processed in HDR
Taken from the Snake River overlook in Grand Teton National Park, Wy. The tallest peak, The Grand Teton, was stuck in the clouds for most of the day. Bad weather makes good photos. I read this one day and drove up to one of my favorite spots. It was raining but I finally got the shot of this canyon I wanted. This shot is from the Flat Tops area. Eagle County Colorado / /

See my origami calendar Folded on June 21, 2008 and shot through a magnifying glass (as I only have a handhled camera without the fancy macro features). A crane folded from a 3×3mm piece of trace paper The folding process can be seen here And just for fun, I used this photo to create my new avatar (created on June 15, 2009) Here is the paper: / For a better idea of scale: / I didn’t videotape myself folding as linaji suggested, but just for fun here’s a preview of the origami surgery :P. Bit of an experiment this….....Not sure whether I like it or not yet – whaddya think. / Honest opinion please, I wont be offended if you rag it to death. The original photo on which it was based was a dreary looking long exposure, almost night thing, of a view from Mortons Overlook in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the USA, with fog in the valley, and a missed sunset. I added a replacement sunset from the same day (slightly different position), and traces of a distant hill on the right. Then I picked out odd bits of treeline from an underexposed photo from the same vantage point, added a blue gradient, and a red, then blended the lot together and reduced the noise. It isnt perfect, I know, but I began to get annoyed with where it wasnt going, and stopped before I made matters worse. Thanks Squealia – Hope this mod is better. NB – Most pleasantly surprised – this was a featured image in the Smoky Mountain Masterpieces on 16th Aug 2008 – Thanks Guys n Gals.

MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD / Best viewed large. / / / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group COUNTRY ROADS/AROUND THE WORLD / / / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group NATURAL COLOR AND LIGHT / / / This is a recent photo of my favorite country road! It is located in Flatwoods, Kentucky, in Greenup County, which lies in the northeastern part of the bluegrass state. Many of my relatives live in or just outside of Flatwoods, and my Dad built this one. / / The scenery from this road is almost surreal, it is so beautiful. Surrounding this road are country farms, barns and old churches. This road winds around a gorgeous mountain cloaked with a variety of lush trees and evergreens, whose leaves are radiant in the Fall of the year with brilliant shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and green. / / At the top of the mountain is the end of this magnificent road, which leads to a private, gated mansion that overlooks the entire county. It is very quiet and peaceful there, and everything, including time, seems to stand still on this beautiful road. It is a breath-taking view from the very top, and this is truly my favorite country road!.. / / / To read and learn more about this special country road, / go to:COUNTRY ROAD

There is a special place just off the Blue Ridge Parkway where you can climb these stairs to a beautiful overlook. The best times seem to be when the mist is moving in over the mountains. This picture is dedicated to Annie and Jean – my sisters who have climbed these stairs with me!! Taken in Western North Carolina. I used the PhotoShop Orton effect to give this picture an even more dreamy texture. Featured in Southern Style: A Downhome Perspective – June 11, 2009!
