  • Portrait of a woman with locks of Paisley pieces. Each Paisley piece is from a pen sketch re-drawn with crisp black and white vectors. 3-3-08

  • A portrait of a relaxed woman, head tilted back, afro freshly fluffed with beautiful ornaments called paisley. This portrait is framed by a lacey oval shape topped with a paisley flower, stylized stem shapes, 2 more paisleys and crowned with a 3D wireframe object enclosed in a round of flowers. This is a piece further inspired by other original paisley pen sketches I have made and a deeper experiment of the most recent “Paisley Tresses”. One major idea behind this is the substitution of the main object and it being replaced with a different object of choice. Not a brand new idea but another interpretation of those great ideas that other artists have used for many years in some POP art pieces. 3-9-2008

  • More experiment with light. This is a computer monitor.

  • More Holga magic. /

  • Another pattern I created while teaching myself how best to use Illustrator to create seamless tiles. See also Reggtro and Starflower This one was used to figure out what I can and can’t get away with. / This one is also interesting because I was experimenting with using Illustrators symbols. / The advantage being that once I have my tile repeating using a symbol(s) all I need to do to update the pattern is update the symbol and the changes made will propagate throughout. You can set up a similar technique in Photoshop by using smart layers. /

  • This was an earlier version of Gumdrops that I wasn’t going to upload, but as it has been my desktop favorite for a few weeks now, I figured it deserved a chance out in the wild. Other patterns /

  • Triple Exposure on a cloudy day (Holga).

  • “Purple Rain” is an original fabric art piece I made while on a trip to visit my son in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Whenever I travel I usually buy fabric to add to my stash. All the fabrics in this piece were purchased during the trip. The purple fabric reminded me of rain puddles and the echoing ring that forms when a rain drops. In my new stash was a fabric with two different images of geishas with umbrellas. I chose one that had one foot forward. I placed it on the purple fabric so it would look like the geisha was stepping into a puddle. I chose another fabric to represent ground with golden grass. Next I cut out parts of another fabric to look like tall budding plants. I overlapped the peach color with a smaller piece of pink fabric, to give the plant some depth. The image is representing how beautiful and magical a rainy day can be. I still play in puddles!

  • We all get tied up in knots now and again :) This was designed me by me. I used a compass and pencils to do the curves and then freehanded over it with ink and added cross-hatching. FEATURED IN FINKS OF INKS GROUP – 1st AUGUST 2009. / FEATURED IN 21st CENTURY CELTS GROUP – 18th October 2009 /
