One of my pet peeves as a psychologist is when people write “heroine overdose” instead of “heroin overdose” in their reports…This is the type of visual I get each time I read it… :)

This is based on real life and it’s a tragic situation that cannot be ignored any longer. There was an indie film a few years back that came out after Columbine. It followed these kids around through their everyday school lives- literally there would be 5, 10 solid minutes of the kid walking down the hall, etc. In the end the school is broken out in chaos when two boys bring guns to school and start shooting students and teachers. It’s very eye-opening. / The movie was called “Elephant.” / My business teacher was on the subject of Columbine one day and refered to the boys who shot the place up as “crazy.” This pissed me off. Because It just gives more evidence to the fact that no one pays any attention to how fucked up higschool is. How fucked up life is. / The film has the very same message as my painting. There are pieces of wallpaper clippings to portray the “room” of which the elephant roams. / This goes hand in hand with my writing “Ode to My Nazi-fuck Highschool”. This was shot on Sat 23rd August, I had two shoots that day and this was what I shot in the morning, quite a contrast to what I have comming next! Nafrayou came over to England and posted an add asking photographers whether they wanted to work with her, of course her huge amount of colour and cute tattoo’s I just had to take the offer up! We tried so many ideas, I was this close to getting an ice cream van and even closer to getting Cyber Candy in London! But because it’s lovely weather and it was a Saturday, it just wasn’t feasable ): So we just had to work with what we got, so we tropped along to The Regents Park in London and just had a play about. I took along some bits and bobs and we just went from there!

small format work in mixed media to enter this work into the Healing through Art Group : / this work relates to healing through art a little indirectly concerning myself .. i had been asked to produce a work that would depict a dream … this dream had been ‘given’ to a friend of my friend who is a practicing psychologist/psychotherapist … she had been dealing with a client who suffered a loss of her close family member due to the drug overdose … her worries were connected to the questions regarding Gods forgiveness for the loved one who passed away ….. the message of the dream was a one of forgiveness of course and the artwork was meant to be a material source of consolation and assurance … while working on this I was myself touched by the love this expresses .. I was given words for visualizing this : ... wings .. shell opening .. flight away into the light ….

2007, Oil on Canvas, 20” x 16” Sheep are really easy to overload. Everything out of the ordinary sends them scampering frantically toward the farthest reach of the meadow to get away from anything that threatens their peaceful vibes. In people, that condition is called panic attacks and is commonly treated with some sort of chemical concoction that throws people into a whole ‘nuther way of whacky behaviors. I’m often asked which type of drugs I’ve been taking to paint sheep for a living. The answer is “None, ever.” But if I did, I would make sure they are of the same kind that this sheep got. If you can go around with one shoe on and one shoe off while jingling bells on your hat and still be taken seriously, you’re doing all right in life. Some of us even manage to do that without chemicals – which is why Overdose is sometimes called my self-portrait. Still working on the bells on the hat thing, though. Now, excuse me – gotta go find my other shoe and buy myself a purple feather boa.
