...on a particularly dark and foreboding day.
As we patiently awaited for the highly anticipated Australia Day 2007 fireworks, we were greeted by a rather unpleasant overcast and patchy sky, many thanks to the soaring 40C heat. Great sweat workout though. MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO /
Went out this morning to Newport beach, it was rainy and drizzly but I took cover in the mens toilet hoping for it to let up. Luckily it was too early for anybody to see me or they probably would have called the cops thinking I was a perv. Took this shot to try to capture the mood of shitty day.
Enjoy! _

Sanctuary – Middle English, from Old French sainctuarie, from Late Latin s?nctu?rium, from Latin s?nctus, sacred, sanctify. Sacred place, especially the most sacred part of a sacred place. In ancient times and in the Middle Ages, a sanctuary served as asylum, a place of refuge for persons fleeing from violence or from the penalties of the law. To injure a person in sanctuary or to remove him from it forcibly was considered sacrilege. In Egypt the temples of Osiris and Amon offered the right of sanctuary. Under the Greeks all temples enjoyed this privilege, and certain ones, like the Temple of Apollo at Delphi, were known throughout the Mediterranean world as a haven for fugitives. In Rome fugitive slaves often sought sanctuary. Christian churches were given the right of sanctuary by Constantine I. Abuses of sanctuary, tending to encourage crime, led to its curtailment and abolition. Modern penal codes no longer recognize the right of sanctuary.

Mr Weatherman forecast rain for the next 7 days. Not taking his advice i decided to try my luck out yesterday morning. Well there wasn’t any light, but also no rain, so that’s a bonus! Only a small exposure adjustment needed in post for this one. I’m loving my 50D.

I love rainy, overcast, windy days. Someone has to, I suppose. The pink/purple of the fireweed has yet to reach its full splendor. As Alaskan legend has it, when fireweed blooms all the way to the top of its spire – the six-week countdown to winter begins. Some of us can hardly wait. It felt great to get out in the elements! Shortly after sunrise at Currumbin Beach, Gold Coast, QLD on the 22nd of August 2009. Awesome looking rocks at the northern end of the beach, a beautiful morning of photography it was. My last few submitted shots are of this same date and place and it’s probably the most enjoyable location I’ve shot yet. Enjoy. 3 bracketed exposures blended – .5, 1/4th and 1/8th of a second shots at f/14 and ISO 100. 450D with a Sigma 10-20. Post processing in Photoshop CS4. Featured in Style! Class! Elegance! – September 2009 / Featured in Your Magic PLACE – September 2009 Northern Currumbin Beach (Gold Coast, QLD – Australia) shortly after sunrise. This made for a great vantage point of the incoming tide, waters deeper with each passing minute. Many times in the middle of this shot I had to grab my camera & tripod and take a run from incoming waves crashing all over the rocky area in the midground and foreground, but only added to the excitement. Taken with a 450D & Sigma 10-20. 3 shots (EV -2, 0. +2) at f/22 and ISO 100. Processed with Photoshop CS4. My Images DO NOT Belong To The Public Domain. All images are copyright © Jason Asher.
