This photo holds so many childhood memories for me having grown up in this very kitchen and still today when I go back it’s there for me.

Made to look like an old illustration. A great gift for those that have old homes.
This charming scene is located just outside the Ta’Kola Mill Museum at Xaghra in Gozo, Malta.
Oil. 80×80cm ‘Experts calculated that in the heyday there were up to 4,000 bottle kilns in Stoke-on-Trent with as many as 2,000 still standing in the 1950’s. The Clean Air Act of 1953 sounded the death-knell for the smoky, coal fired oven. There are 47 still standing today – all are listed buildings.’

Tonight on my river in Boothbay – Back River is a tidal river near a trecheous place called Oven’s Mouth. This is a tidal river which changes 12 feet. A beautifully peaceful place when the tide is right. Been coming here for over 25 years so I know well its many faces. Taken with my new 4 Stop Singh-Ray Reverse ND filter, my favorite 10 – 22mm lens, on my favorite river in Boothbay. .......A place we have been coming to for over 25 yrs…..... My favorite place!

The foundation of any society is captured in the artifacts it leaves, the Taos pueblo is no different. For centuries the American Indians have lived in these types of dwellings. Making beautiful pottery from the clay earth, and fired in Kiva ovens that sit outside their houses. The Kiva ovens are also used to bake bread. Visit the any pueblo and you will see such scenes. The Taos Pueblo is located in Taos New Mexico, USA.

Oil on canvas. 70×70cm . / A view of Stoke-on-Trent in the past before the Clean Air Act of the 1950s. Some of the tenants used old ‘saggers’ to make walls. Saggers being the earthenware pots used to stack crockery for firing in the bottle ovens.

These reflections were captured on Ovens River in Bright, Victoria, Australia in autumn. I used a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera and 18-55mm lens.
HMAS Ovens (S 70) is an Oberon class submarine formerly of the Royal Australian Navy and is now preserved as a museum ship. There was so many other ‘items’ laying around the sub, to distracting for a complete picture of the whole ship so I decided to single parts of it out. Fremantle Western Australia Olympus E-410

This is another shot from the abandoned brickworks factory in Brunswick that I visited with Chris (pennphotography) a few days ago. This was a small room inside the main shed. It was dark inside, so I had to use a flash to actually see what was in the room. It reminded me of a photo in a real crimes book from the 1960s, where you see the crime scene, and are given an explanation of what happened, who died and whether or not they found the killer. And yes, that is an oven in the middle of the room. Why? No idea.. Top 10 in Derelict & Unused Buildings Challenge Added a texture to this one to enhance that crime scene feel. Texture taken from www.deviantart.com free use stock. Desaturated colour to age the shot. Canon 50D / 18 – 55, 58mm All editing done 11pm MCN: CSXFM-H72Y9-6TJV9
