View from my outrigger boat off the coast of West Papua. This was one of the many uninhabited islands in the area. The area was an absolute paradise with stunning wildlife, sandy white beaches, and an amazing history. Well off the beaten track and no tourists to be seen anywhere….except me and my mate, Nikon!

On many early mornings as I walk the beach, I see several groups of paddlers leave the shore in their large beautiful outriggers. They are members of canoe clubs here in Kailua, Oahu and regularly come for their exercise. I can hear the voice of the leader coming across the waters as she urges her crew to move the boat swiftly through the water.They are so fast that it is always a challenge to try to catch them in a good composition.This image was taken this morning just after the sun rose from the sea.
