To date I have photographed around 250 species of Australian wildlife (including more than 220 species of birds!). All found and photographed in the wild over the last few years. click here to view the list of species Yet I consider myself a novice ‘birder’ and don’t even use binoculars to help me locate species. Recipe: research + petrol + walking + luck! (add in some flies, dust and corrugated roads for good measure) To me there are few things more satisfying than travelling and exploring new places then finding new species to add to my photo collection. Australia has such an amazing variety of wildlife out there! Our travels have included wetlands, coastal areas, mallee scrub, woodland and forests. Day trips or longer trips that can see us camping and ‘roughing it’ for a few days at a time. I love it – each trip is a bit of an adventure. hmm well the Blue Jay sega still continues. I set out whole peanuts yesterday and within a few hours he proceeded to give me supreme heck for sitting on my deck in the evening. He wanted the peanuts but wouldn’t come down while i was there. Then this morning he stayed away until i left my post long enough to get ready for the day. While i was preoccupied he swooped in and stole two peanuts. I may set up the tripod and use the remote to get the shot lol. The sega continues…. will post when i get the shot.. I hope

Oooohhh I can’t wait!! Just got a call at work this morning that the group is coming back up to Plymouth Airport midday today .. and they have my jacket! I can’t wait to see it! There’s an emblem on it that looks a lot like the picture above (except graphic!) Unfortunately have to work until 5 but pass by there on the way home. Looking forward to hitting the skies again soon!!!! Tomorrow though, due to wind and probably no flying (they never go up when there is significant wind)... Me, my husband and hopefully a few others are going to continue on the attempt to blaze that new trail up Stinson Mt, from the Quincy road side… very cliffy and very steep but my oh my the views will be fantastic! Along those trails, we never know what we’ll discover – from big big webs, to caves, to waterfalls, to bears and wildlife, and to wildflowers and plants I’ve never ever seen before! The one thing I know we won’t be seeing tho is people…! Virgin trail in the making doesn’t make for many people! lol! Looking forward to one very exciting weekend and hope you all have the same!
