A little girl from Mt. Elgon, Uganda tells me with a smile in her native Lugandan language, not to take her picture. This village borders the initial hot zone, near Kitum Cave, where the Ebola virus broke out back in the late 60’s and continued to baffle scientists up until the last century.

  • *TVS STORM CELL*
    by van049

    US$3.99–US$91.20

TVS STORM CELL On June 4, 2008, a “severe weather outbreak” occurred in the USA. This is another record of that event, and the SPC had placed my area under a “MODERATE RISK” for severe storms with possible tornadoes. This is an actual tornadic storm cell that was spinning on NEXRAD RADAR on / June 4, 2008. Earlier this same system produced a TVS (tornado vortex signature) and was noted by trained Spotters to have rotation. This event occurred approximately 25-30 minutes before the storms reached my area / in NE Kentucky. Fortunately for me, the system turned just due south only minutes after the TVS was spotted. According to the Storms Prediction Center, 461 total damage reports were confirmed that day, and 56 reports were of tornadoes. A “severe weather outbreak” affected most of the Midwest and the Ohio Valley, and traveled due east all the way to the eastern coast. Unfortunately there was one single fatality reported on that day. A motorist in Fairfax County, Virginia was struck by a large tree that crashed into his vehicle as it was moving.

  • well my friend put me up to this . and i hate how the news blows stuff out of proportion.

  • The Guardian
    by van049

    US$4.32

THE GUARDIAN Storm clouds began to move all around me on I64 just outside of Winchester, Kentucky, on July 20, 2006. The winds began to pick up as the storm clouds rolled into the area and surrounding counties. I knew something bad was brewing with the weather, and severe thunderstorms seemed imminent! / Driving on the interstate, heading towards home in northeast Ky., I looked straight ahead and there was this huge, magnificent cloud ahead of me. For a brief second I thought I saw what looked like “AN ANGEL” riding on top of this cloud, although I knew it was either only another cloud or part of this same, huge cloud I was now facing. / So I quickly grabbed my camera and took this picture, and since have named it “The Guardian,” for several good reasons. The very next day, July 21, 2006, we had a “severe weather outbreak” across several states, including mine. The Storms Prediction Center (SPC) in Norman, Oklahoma, issued a “PDS,” which is a “PARTICULAR DANGEROUS SITUATION,” for these areas. / A total of 285 storm reports came through; 31 hail, 251 high winds, and 1 tornado. Power lines and large trees were down, many of them across entire counties! / Thankfully there were no injuries reported! The one lone tornado report came from a trained spotter, who observed the twister in an open field 1 mile southwest of Hoyleton, Illinois.
