Whilst competing in a Rogaine in SW Western Australia my mate and I stumbled upon a deserted farmhouse and out buildings. Because we were camping overnight in roughly the same area I managed to get back the next morning to get a few shots. I only hope I can find my way back there as there are lots of shots to be made.

FIRST TIME PUBLISHED / When I looked outside my restaurant in Broome I saw two cowboyheads sitting on the tables outside and I had a strong urge to make some photo’s. I spook to the two men they where from Fitzroy Crossing. They where watching a crowd of Indeginous Aboriginal men and women ‘hanging’ outside in the Plaza. They where waiting for the local liquorshop to open, In Fitzroy is now a ‘ban’ on alcohol, they told me, so Fitzroy Crossing is now a ‘dry’ Community Miss. / Broome, Western Australia. / Today I received an email stating; CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR IMAGE ‘TYPAN’ is one of 55 images from the PEOPLE & PLANET International Photo Competition. to be published in the 2009 People&Planet; Social Justice & Enviroment Diary, which will be published this month in Australia (2009). / We thought that your image was incredible, and it won from a pool of OVER 1000 images from 316 photographers from around the World! / All funds raised by the People&Planet diary go to Australia’s small non profit organisations which are working to promote social-justice and environmental substainability around the world. /

I recently had the priviledge of travelling through central Australia. I scouted out this composition the day before taking this shot. With my planned return the following day and the show exceeded all expectations in a display of desert light and beauty.Glowing in the twilight, a lone ghost gum stands starkly and majestically. The scene backdropped by the jaw dropping West Macdonnell ranges. The Pinnacles Desert, Western Australia, early morning, July 2009 The first shot from my short trip around mid-north-west of Western Australia. I made to The Pinnacles just by the sunrise, was literally racing the sun to get there! The roads in WA are really great, can’t compare to NSW. I guess we need to thank the mining boom for this great road system. Anyway, as soon as I get there, I see this beautiful yellow sandstone rocks sticking from the ground, and guess what? I was chasing the sunrise, and so was the rain! So had to run to the car and grab an umbrella, and after few minutes the sun was gone. I should have more photos of that rainbow in RAW format I hope, so I can check them when I get home in 3 days. And now I am sitting in a hotel in Kalbarri – great little town about 700 km North from Perth, there is a band playing next door, and probably for that reason my wireless internet keeps dropping out. It timed out few times, so I reduced the file size. An plus it is Vodafone which is crap in rural areas. Thank you for looking, Canon 5D / Canon EF 24-105 IS USM Lens / FL:24mm / ISO:50 / Av:10 / AT:25
