The well worn saddle gear from an outback property.
A nice Aussie outback scene. The location is about 45min drive north of Goondiwindi, on a back road through to Yelarbon. It’s all quite standard scrub the entire way, except for this one area of sand ridge with different vegetation. Quite nice to look at.
A handgun and holster resting on a wood slab.
Taken west of Albury. The clouds rolled into the right place to block the sun at just the right time.
Farmhands taking a break from baling sorghum – finding time to ‘roll out’ their lunchbreak. The circular bales attracted me as a composition subject, so I used a combination of pastel hues plus pen and ink to give an impression of hazy harvesting days in a rural Australia setting.
taken in outback NSW in Jan.2007. Heavy thunderstorms loom on the horizon of these barren plains. more of my meteorological photography can be seen at / thunderstorms more of my outback Australian photography can be seen at / the Aussie outback
The lagoon was of course not blue. the blue of the sky is false colour obtained from the exchange of the red and blue channels of an infrared picture. The photo was taken in Geelong at the Aboriginal Craft & Cultural Interpretation Centre – Narana Creations. They have a beautiful walk and lots of artwork to buy. It’s a great chance to learn a little more about Australia’s real history. If it sounds like a plug then I guess it is although only by someone who’s been there once and was very impressed. It’s my first infrared lake so I’m happy with the results.

The sun sets on this old house, in more ways than one. I believe it shall soon be no more, it’s life given for a a new housing estate. No-one lives there now, but soon there’ll be hundreds of little blocks with little houses and not-so-little morgages!
The sign that greets travellers to the outback town of Cobar in New South Wales, Australia.

An old cattle yard near the Jackson Oilfield in South West Queensland. Still looks pretty good after many many years.
A pretty big storm front approaching! Time to batten down the hatches and run for cover! South West Queensland oilfields.
Another shot taken around the Jackson oilfields in South West Queensland. I caught the afternoon light just at the right time.
Taken in Outback Australia in the Jackson Oilfields.
Another wild storm passing over the Jackson oilfield in South West Queensland. I have increased contrast somewhat but the colours are as it was. i wish i could have captured the Front End Loader more dramatically heading for the storm but there were buildings to my right. / . / / . / / . /
Taken in South West Queensland after recent rains.
I was driving along side some of the many paddocks that frequent my area (the Hawkesbury area) when I came across this cow, the light seemed to be pretty decent and seeing as how the cow was a few metres away I decided it would be a good opportunity to test out my new 55-200mm lens.. / The cow just would not look at me (unusual for a cow) and then finally it decided to sneak a glance so I snapped the shutter and this was the result.. / Post processing involved adjusting the exposure, contrast and levels, and then applying a vignette and a monochrome filter. / I havent uploaded anything for quite some time so I decided to throw this image to the wind and see if it flies or crashes and burns.. / As per usual comments and critiquing are more than welcome, and thanks very much for taking a look!
