© Simone Byrne Photography, 2007. All Rights Reserved. 29th November, 2007 Sunset at the ‘Tree Graveyard’. A conceptual image (diptych) for all those who are plagued by the “black dog”. Redesdale, Victoria, Australia What is Bipolar? Bipolar disorder is a medical illness that causes severe mood swings which are caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. People who suffer from this illness lack the control mechanism that enables them to pull away from emotional situations and as such their lives may spiral out of control, through no fault of their own. The illness is very serious and very real and affects not only the sufferer, but their friends and family as well. There is still a lot of stigma attached to this disease, given that it is a mental illness to which very little is known about. It is incurable but can be controlled by diet and medication. Most bipolar types are brilliant, creative, inspiring, loving, generous and caring individuals who contribute to making the world a better place, but all the while they themselves struggle every day to survive. As Toyota and Jetstar are debating all around town, i thought i’d stir the pot with my little jump a bit more…
The lagoon was of course not blue. the blue of the sky is false colour obtained from the exchange of the red and blue channels of an infrared picture. The photo was taken in Geelong at the Aboriginal Craft & Cultural Interpretation Centre – Narana Creations. They have a beautiful walk and lots of artwork to buy. It’s a great chance to learn a little more about Australia’s real history. If it sounds like a plug then I guess it is although only by someone who’s been there once and was very impressed. It’s my first infrared lake so I’m happy with the results.
Wicked storm passing over us and i was lucky enough to capture a few shots before the rain hit. Taken in outback Australia, South West Queensland.

Constant down pours for more than a week have produced some amazing sights around Uluru. Usually bone dry sand and dust is transformed into a tropical garden if only for a short time. 4th December 2002 – my first total eclipse of the sun experience, which was in the desert of south australia.. Over 8000 people from all over the world turned up to witness the eclipse just near sunset.. with a totality of 27 seconds. The festival went for 5 days with non stop Psytrance music on several stages.. I also trekked to Turkey in 2006 to attend my 2nd total eclipse experience – i hope to experience four if im able (2009 India/Nepal and 2012 Australia). Its an experience everyone should witness .. People ive met at these festivals have become long life connections… this picture has a little story here in my journal

Jeffery Smart is a fantastic AUSTRALIAN Artist. His work often displays the things found in the everyday, roads, buildings, containers. / This is a collection of Aviation Gas Drums lined up and stacked up, along the side of a shed in Whitecliffs. / The time was just after sunrise, a bit cool but great light up at the top of the dug out hotel we were staying at. I found some great objects, old cars, broken glass, rocks and of course the sunrise over the landscape of outback Australia. / / / Over 1000 views!!! Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments! /
My team of Track Workers, after a very cold and mostly sleepless night, thaw out whilst getting a fire going to cook breakfast before heading out once again to do volunteer maintenance work on the Bibbulmun Track, Western Australia.

I wonder who it was that left this beautiful old car behind in the middle of no where? This mystery is what I love about these old wrecks, so many bits and pieces taken from the old girl, maybe to help another breakdown get going again? This beautiful wreck was about 50 klms out of Mildura, on the way to Mungo National Park, on the unsealed and rough road. Canon 50D, 15mm. Available large, and best viewed large!

I wanted to take this image to gauge just how big these beauties really are. When I got home and processed the shot, I was surprised as to how much it actually dwarfed me!
