With the drought in Melbourne – it is hard to find lush green – I miss the colours rain brings

Honestly, sometimes the best shots can be made by simply looking behind you. Sometimes when you’ve got a particular setup in mind, its easy just to set off and miss some great opportunities just by looking around. Not nearly as cliched as Hopetoun Falls shot, but well and truly worthy. Taken with a Fuji GX617 Panoramic Camera with the 90mm Lens. / Scanned on an Imacon Flextight 949 at 3200dpi. Well decided to revisit the falls around the Otways. After 30+ km’s of trekking i am fairly nuffed :p This was a re-shoot of hopetoun falls, fairly cliche eh? 3 image stitch.

The jib of the old couta boat crane stands out against the dawn sky, now on land, at Point Grey at Lorne as a reminder of one of the boom industries that supported the coastal township for many years. / Lorne Pier was home, by the 1960’s, to a barracouta fishing fleet purported to be Victoria’s largest, 28 at it’s peak. Couta boats had a distinctive style, sailing with a gaff rig and featuring a spacious cockpit allowing hooked fish to be pulled in quickly over the stern. Boats were kept on the deck of the pier and launched and retrieved using this crane, when it was on rails on the original pier before the upgrade. / / Pentax istDS Camera. An HDR image with three exposures bracketed and processed using Dynamic Photo HDR. My Bubblesite showcases images in their categories.
“BILLABONG” Near Forrest, Otway National Park, Victoria, Australia In the Otway Ranges (in Victoria, Australia) there is a much visited lake…Lake Elizabeth. Here it is that people come early in the morning to (hopefully) see the reclusive and elusive Platypus. However, on the trail to Lake Elizabeth you pass this small, beautiful, still, body of water…I don’t know if it even has a name…it is just “the billabong”. It is surrounded by tall eucalypts and is almost always very still & reflective in its sheltered location. Beautiful. Sometimes (because of little gems like this), the journey is more wonderful than the destination…
After visiting Lorne in April 2008, we did some tripping around Lavers Hill, and then early one morning headed back into Colac. The first part of the trip was through heavy fog in the Otway forest, but about half-way along the fog began to clear K20D1/180 @f 5.6 16 – 50 mm DA lens at 45 mm
