A creek that flows through the rainforests in the Otways in Victoria. One of my favorite places.
Late winter in the Otways NP and the winter rains have created a stunning flow over Hopetoun Falls.
The waters of Young’s Creek cascade majestically over the rock face at Triplet Falls, amid the rainforest in The Great Otway National Park, in the hinterland behind The Great Ocean Road, Australia. Pentax istDS Camera – Three timelapse images bracketed to create an HDR image. My Bubblesite showcases images in their categories. ‘Featured’ in the 100%, LLD, and Natural Colour and Light Groups.
I took this photo the day after the severe winds and rain in Nov 2007 while hiking back from Beauchamp Falls in the Otway Ranges. I heard water running off the track and went looking. It showed that beauty can still come after destruction.

Photo of Cape Otway Lighthouse, which is off the great Ocean Road in Victoria.
An edit of a photo i took at Cape Otway Lighthouse just of Victoria’s Great Ocean Road in Australia a few months ago on the 28th of February 2008. HDR’d in Photomatix from one RAW file . Found a pic of some birds i took at Elwood Beach a while ago and added them in Photoshop. Some tweaking was also done in Lightroom including the black and white conversion and above is the end result. The Lighthouse is just one of many beautiful attractions in the Great Otway National Park. CAPE Otway Lightstation is the oldest, surviving lighthouse in mainland Australia. The light, which has been in continuous operation since 1848, is perched on towering sea cliffs where Bass Strait and the Southern Ocean collide. For thousands of immigrants, after many months at sea, Cape Otway was their first sight of land after leaving Europe. click feature buttons to view group/challenge / — / Koalas are at home at Cape Otway and as you drive in to, and out of, the lighthouse grounds there are many koalas in trees…and on the road! I snapped this mother carrying her baby after we nearly ran over them when we pulled over so I could get out and take shots of koalas in trees! I hadn’t seen koalas in the wild since I was a kid, so I was so excited…that I forgot to pay attention to framing or depth of field or anything technical (hence the massive crop…). The koalas along this stretch of road must be used to stopping traffic because after this shot was taken, she crossed the road, stopped in the middle of the road, posed (yes, posed, like in this picture!) for a few photos before running into the scrub. So, this was part of our road trip from Melbourne to Darwin via the Great Ocean Road and the red centre. This was about the seventh day I had my new DSLR (Nikon D90 – Tamron 17-50mm 2.8). UPDATED PIC: have adjusted the levels for sharper image. — / Other images taken in the Cape Otway Grounds / Click images to view / - / N.B. Along with Mackenzie Falls in the Grampians, Hopetoun Falls are probably the most photographed waterfall in Victoria. A popular tourist stop they are reached after a short although steep walk and tend to flow quite well year round. This is another waterfall I have visited and photographed many times but on this particular occassion the waterflow was perfect being enough to look nice and flow in distinct bands but not so much that the distinct bands merged into one. A beautiful spot in the Otways, Victoria, Australia. When I first got into selling framed prints this was my most popular picture selling two 8”x12” and 6”x9” within a few months of each other. Sun light skims tall magestic tree trunks and highlights green leaves on Bridge Track deep in the rain forest of the Otway Ranges. / Not far from here is a bush camp know as Dandos, one of the most delightful places to camp by the river…but not a holiday time, it’s getting too popular!. / Not long after this shot was taken heavy Otway rains and flood picked up the bridge and moved it sidways 1 meter closing the track for some months, it has now been fixed into that new position. / Taken with Fuji S2 Pro
Just before Christmas I went to Cumberland River in the Otways for a few days with my three girls. The last thing we did before returning to Melbourne was to visit this magical little drop. Due to good unseasonal rains just before we left it was in fine form (for summer) and was a really lovely way to cap off our stay. A week after I took this this I got my 5DmkII so this was one of my last Velvia 50 shoots… maybe!
