I painted this work for very personal reasons, and as a consequence it is full / of deep meaning for me. Despite this, it conveys symbology and content / relating to alchemy and the most ancient of mysteries that is meaningful for / many people. / Of course, it can also be enjoyed as a fantasy piece, as can all of my work, if / the viewer wishes. / I also needed to work with those golden colors for a while, as a kind of / therapy for myself.

ORIGINAL $300 plus postage and handling This mandala was created after a big breathwork meditation in which I felt the spirits of my grandmothers and greatgrandmothers all the way back to prehistory reach out to me. It was a time of crisis for me and to feel the essence of my maternal history with me, I was able to pass through and come out the other side relatively whole. The mandala symbolizes the presence of my foremothers all the way back to prehistory. The horses symbolize power and freedom. The all seeing eye is open to the wisdom of the past and the challenges and opportunities of the future. The colours are the colours of the earth, the sky, the wind and the rain. Autumn Fox is represented by the Red Fox. Autumn in Celtic lore was considered the time when the line between the living world and the otherworld was the thinnest. People were better able to commune with those who had crossed over to the otherworld at this time. The fox, because of it’s illusive nature, is often associated with magic, and supernatural abilities. It’s most active times are during dawn and dusk, the “in-between-times”, and therefore, a natural emissary representing the borderlands between this and the otherworld. Windows,doorways,gates,passageways,portals to other worlds,dimensions appear throughout the cosmos. / They are sometimes standing stones but very rarely towers. This portal is called Inifers Tower. Legends say Inifers Tower appears in the Awaketime as well,and it is always another world,never the same twice. Does the Tower go where its doorway leads for it as never been seen in the same location more than once. / Is it the same tower,sometimes it seems to have fallen more into ruin. I lived in Malibu, my favorite place on earth, for five years. Since leaving there, I spend weeks during the summer living by the sea. Nothing is more inspiring than waking up to the crashing waves, the ebb and flow of the Pacific ocean. This is a picture of me at a friend’s home sitting on the balcony rail as if there were no possibility that I could fall. I was entirely content seated on 2×4. It became my special perch, my lookout point on the world. There could have been many people on the terrace, but I would never have known. In my reverie, I feel like I am in an otherworldy realm, transported away from earthly reality.

It is fascinating how photographs of the bark of trees transform into realistic scenes. This reminds me of a village with a cobblestone path and an Indian woman on the right possibly selling her wares. Two men are walking down the path dressed in blue. There are also otherworldly creatures like the big heads on the upper right and left. Is she wearing red glasses?? Abstract landscapes allow the viewer to project whatever he she sees. What do you perceive in this montage of images? Every time you look at this painterly photograph, she will see something else. There are infinite images to explore. The imagery in my “Rorschachs” are best viewed in the large format.

My friend JuliaN never ceases to amaze me. He recently had a whole new set of fountains put in because the ones he had were too “blah”. He had to show me what these looked like flying over in the hovercraft at night, by moonlight and with a soft breeze blowing. I have to admit, they are quite breathtaking.
