Lance is my own creation. I have some of his story fleshed out but not all of it. / He’s one of those kind of guys that succeed in most everything he sets out to do. In college he discovered that he had a talent for writing songs, and so took up the guitar. He and a group of friends produced a CD. One of their songs hit the charts and the money rolled in. Being the kind of guy he is he wanted to give back to the community. After college, Lance made some wise investments and played the stock market then bought an apartment complex for needy families. He opened a non profit establishment which helps the needy, ex druggies, and those in abuseive lives get the help they need and jobs to start a new life. He’s a all around good guy who’s kick boxing hobby had earned him many first prize matches, yet he does not believe in violence. / Well sooner or latter every one has to take their lumps, and Lance is no exception. After 5 years of marage to his high school sweetheart, and one 2 year old later. tragedy struck. It couldn’t be something simple, it had to be complicated. His wife and child are killed by a drunk driver. And it doesn’t end there, at their funeral Lance discovers something he wished he had never been born to hear. His faithful wife was not so faithful. / As he walked to the grave sited, he sees another man standing in sorrow. Lance’s kind natured heart goes out to what he thought was a friend of her’s he had yet to meet. But he soon discovers the man is not only her lover, but the real father of her child. She NEVER told the man she was married. Will the humanitarian be able to over come the rage now stirring inside him? Only time will tell. Worn Rabbit is an extension from the original series of 9 Animal Designs that are 4” x 4” canvas blocks that I created at end of 2007. I’ve utilised the selected pink or acrylic from the original series and inks on a distressed photo that I took and printed out on paper from one of my many sketch pads. The animal design series represents what we could be left with if we don’t take care of nature and all it’s creatures. With their charming toy like appearance, they could just end up like childhood memories.

It’s Winter in Australia, which means the Wattle is beginning to bloom. In my area we’ll soon be surrounded by a sea of bouncing little balls of yellow…... Did you know : / - Wattle is Australia’s official floral emblem, having adorned our Coat Of Arms since 1912. / - there are around 950 different species of Wattle….. which is why I have no clue as to which one this is! / - On 1 September 1910 the Sydney Morning Herald stated: / “To many Australians the wattle stands for home, country, kindred, sunshine and love; every instinct that the heart most deeply enshrines.”........ nice :) [canon 1000D, canon scanner for texture, PS watercolour] WINNER – Wattle challenge – October 2009

I’ve had my nose buried in the art of Da Vinci over the past couple of days, re-familiarizing myself with his mastery. / As much as I love his paintings, it’s his sketchwork that intrigues me the most…... his sketch workups for his paintings have such humanity in them, his invention sketches showing us a tiny glimpse of his genius, & those anatomy sketches giving us some insight into his constant need for knowledge…. Sadly I haven’t drawn anything for almost 5 years, but today the great Master has inspired me to pick up a pen after all this time, & I have to say it feels great! This image began life 12 years ago as a single line drawing hastily sketched as a thought came into my head. I’ve often looked at it with stirrings of interest….. / So today, with visions of Da Vinci & ancient manuscripts in my head I am drawing again . I recently treated myself to a set of Ashleys Photoshop Actions & I have to say that it’s the best money I’ve spent in a long time! / True, these Actions are all things I frequently try to do myself when doing a portrait, but using them has halved my workflow. / Perhaps I should learn to do my own actions…. / I’ve had a lot of fun playing with them this afternoon…...
