Lithuania NOT PHOTOSHOP AND ANY WAY
This painting is of the view I saw walking through the portico of the convent building adjoining the San Felipe de Neri church. The cactus was not in bloom at the time, so I added those in for more color. This is located in Old Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico. All proceeds from this work are to be donated to the Philadelphia Mission to feed, clothe, and provide medicine and education to the starving children in Africa. © C J Lewis. Digital art created using PhotoPlus6 for air-brushing, painting, colouring & sizing. I use the mouse with the smudge tool to move the colours around and into the shapes desired as I don’t have a Wacom tablet. Photograph of the tree & area used as the inspiration for the subject matter. I have also done this air-brush work in oils on stretched canvas with slight changes here BEST VIEWED LARGE MARCH 2009 FEATURED IN Digital Brushstrokes group Part of the Nature Characters Series When I first saw the Illawarra Flame Tree I was amazed at the beauty of its colour and silently asked Jesus to bless the tree. It was the memory of my request that gave me to inspiration for this painting which I did using the air-brush and painting tools on my computer and using the photograph below as the reference…with some artistic license. Did you know : / - Wattle is Australia’s official floral emblem, having adorned our Coat Of Arms since 1912. / - there are around 950 different species of Wattle….. which is why I have no clue as to which one this is! / - On 1 September 1910 the Sydney Morning Herald stated: / “To many Australians the wattle stands for home, country, kindred, sunshine and love; every instinct that the heart most deeply enshrines.”........ nice :) [canon 1000D, canon scanner for texture, PS watercolour] WINNER – Wattle challenge – October 2009

Not sure if I’ll sell this one yet. / view my current eBay listings This one really took a lot out of me and came perilously close to being slashed with a stanley knife last week. Not surprisingly, the face which has finally emerged looks less than happy…..although there is a hint of a wry smile. Perhaps she’s accepted the fact that things don’t always turn out the way you hope they will….but if you let go, you might end up with something far more interesting instead. currently listening to: The Verve – Weeping Willow medium: acrylic on stretched canvas size: 90cm x 120cm
