Second verse…same as the first. Almost:)
A lazy moment in the life of a polar bear at at the Oregon Zoo. I am going to Churchill next year to see these beautiful animals out on the tundra. There has been a 13% decrease in the Polar bears in that area due to global warming. There is only a short time during the year for viewing these bears, as once the ice solidifies, they migrate in search of food. During the several month hibernation, they have had no food. They replenish their bodies off of seals and other sea going mammals. The polar bears are considered the most dangerous of all bears. While viewing them in their natural habitat, you never leave the gigantic dune buggies. For several days and nights, you sleep, eat and view the wildlife from the dune buggies and from the viewing decks. The bears are considered to be too dangerous to allow people to step down on the tundra (other than the scientists).
Came across this at the near deserted beach along a stretch of the Oregon Dunes National Park. Perfect position for my polarizer to take full advantage of the perpendicular sun.

This little owl (the most common type of owl in our area) was rescued by a Raptor Center and ended up at the Cascade Raptor Center. They were unable to return her to the wild (due to an eye injury) and she remains as a permanent resident at the Cascade Raptor Center along with 60+ other birds of Prey. The Raptor center is involved in rescuing and returning hundreds of birds to the wild each year, including Eagles, Owls and Hawks. They are completely supported by the public. / 200% of all my earnings on RB go to help support these birds (I match 100% of all earnings). / Cascade Raptor Center

A golden-backed dragonfly rests easily on a fresh rosebud in the Owen Rose Garden, Eugene, Oregon. Summer 2008.
This is the famous Seal cave in Oregon. They have a view point where the view is obscured by a cage. There is a small ledge of cement where you can sit a camera down and take a time exposure or at least try to hold your camera still. The view is though a small window in the cage for the camera. Those are seals on the rocks. The light was nice and my luck was good.
[Double Exposure Project #1 – Oregon and San Diego Exposed] This is one of the images produced through double exposing a roll of film with my amazingly talented, generous, and dear friend Matt Adamik. This was our first attempt at working with this process and I am in love with every image. Matt lives in Oregon and I live in San Diego. He shot the roll first, mailed it to me, and I shot over top his photos. Neither of us knew what the other was shooting. The results are astounding and breathtaking. And fun! We will be collaborating on many more double exposure projects in the very near future. A wonderful way to bring Oregon and San Diego together, as well as the styles and friendships of two photographers. I am absolutely in love with this type of photography! I highly recommend it for everyone. Thank you Matt for everything! Goggles Down! /

This video guy and I were the last two taking advantage of the late light of this sunset. It almost always pays to take shots several minutes after the crowd of photographers leave as soon as the sun is down. Taken at Cannon Beach, Oregon with a Canon XT and a 28-135. This photo was taken in Eastern Oregon. There were just a few of them around in one area near The Painted Hills. I was drawn to them by their simplicity and delicate pattern. I’m always in awe of Mother Nature’s beauty.

On a road trip we drove through this bridge and I was able to get my camera out and just snapped pictures all the way through. To my amazement there were no cars traveling this bridge while we drove though. OK…I won’t lie, we drove through once and turned around so I could take my pictures. Isn’t this just Paradise? I love this spot with all my heart! Ecola State Park, located off Highway 101, north of Cannon Beach, offers some of the most breathtaking and exquisite views to be found on the Oregon Coast. To the south lies Cannon Beach and its landmark Haystack Rock and the Needles. The mists and fog compete with the sun to create an ever-changing vista. The surf changes from low white foam to crashing swells, from cobalt blue to sea green, to the myriad shades of grey in a storm. You won’t see the same scene twice! Excerpts from Cannon-Beach.net
