Planet Specus Contemna is invisible for most of its circulation. It gradually appears to residents of nearby bodies and maintains tenuous visibility for the span of 40 rotations, after which it once again slowly disappears. Although no one has successfully landed there (because of the excessive energy wave undulation) those who have orbited describe the slowly appearing surface as watery and dark. The inversion of light to the red spectrum creates a shimmering blood-filled cave-like appearance. Early attempts to explore Specus Contemna prompted the name when a fearful but romantically-inclined solarnaut cried, “It looks like some grisly Tunnel of Love! It’s a Cavern of Hate!! Break orbit and turn back!!” Created in Photoshop Elements 3 and GIMP. / / /
