  • I found these Poppy seed pods on our house hunting venture and just loved their shape, colour and texture and taking these photos definitely took my mind off the move! The name of this image came from my kids as they call them tiny honey pots. Enjoy.

  • Named after my Dad, who’s grandpa name was Poppy. He taught me photography, and my first published photograph was of a California Poppy on Mt. Diablo (not this one).

  • Found many of these lovely flowers blowing in the wind this evening. Poppies, perhaps. Used the opportunity to practice selective focus, since the aperture needed to remain large with as fast a shutter speed as possible in the wind. Nikon D300 and a Nikkor 105mm macro lens. 105mm, at f/6.3 and 1/400 sec, -0.3ev, IS0 200, manual exposure. monopod. Converted from 14-bit RAW to jpeg using Capture NX 2.1. Bright sunlight, windy. Unedited. 4288×2848px, high-res Meanwhile, I’ve been deleting landscape shots, all the while asking What makes a good landscape shot? in the forum of A Photographer’s Craft. Some great responses.
