The storms were fierce with a ton of rain last night. I decided to take of work and spend the day at the falls near my house. I must have snapped 200 pictures today. What a great day!! I found a new toy its my infrared lens. Dawn at Garie Beach, Royal National Park just south of Sydney, Australia. A seagull very obligingly flew into shot as I was taking this. Can you spot the silhouetted fishermen? / I’m lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen – it’s only a little national park (14,000 ha) but the variety of stuff to photograph is simply endlessly inspiring. Unfortunately the skies here in the desert are mostly hazy and full of sand and dust! There are not too many days when there are clear horizons with clouds, and to be able to catch a sunrise like this was just excellent! Located in Libya towards the Algerian border. / /

by BigDBest View Larger Feature in All Countries ~ Wetlands, Ponds, Lakes and Rivers group. / Feature in JPG Cast-Offs group. I love this place as a young boy because I grew up here. Us boys used to walked several several miles just to swim at this pond before it was develop. This was taken on 10/14/2008 in the morning. The place is in the village of Potterville, PA. My camera was a Rebel XTi with a Sigma 17-70mm lens and a circular polarizer. Other equipment was a tripod and calbe release. Edited in HDR software. Click view larger to really see the beauty. / /

Glenmore Reservoir, Calgary, Alberta, Canada This was one my very first photo’s I took. There were many things I had not yet picked up. I had the iso on auto, which I think for this photo was about 400 – 800. This led to much of the noise in the sky. I had the aperture set at f22, which at the time I thought was best to bring more of the photo in focus but I later found it can soften the overall image. I also did not own a tripod so I had to balance the camera on some rocks which made composing the scene much harder then normal and led to a small amount of camera shake. In the end though this became the first photo I had taken that I was truly proud of and solidified my passion for photography.

/ I was down at Okanagan beach this afternoon taking some photographs when I noticed the reflection of some tree tops with the light shining through them in this puddle. Thought it looked almost like the leaves in the puddle were falling onto the trees…..seemed kind of magical to me :)
