... / “There, on the pendent boughs her coronet weeds / Clambering to hang, an envious sliver broke; / When down her weedy trophies and herself / Fell in the weeping brook. Her clothes spread wide; / And, mermaid-like, awhile they bore her up: / Which time she chanted snatches of old tunes; / As one incapable of her own distress, / Or like a creature native and indued / Unto that element: but long it could not be / Till that her garments, heavy with their drink, / Pull’d the poor wretch from her melodious lay / To muddy death…” (Hamlet – Act 4. Scene VII)

Oil Pastel And Acrylic (With minor digital enhancements) Here’s Ophelia all dressed up for a party that she’s hosting! A party that celebrates all that life has to offer, both the good and not so good :D She’s wearing her new flower feather clips and a ribbon belt to adorn her waist. All who read this will be invited! A belief that Life is to be celebrated, not just the ups but the downs too. It is easier to give thanks and rejoice when things go well for us but can we still do the same when things dont turn out the way we want them to? In dry or in bountiful times, I keep reminding myself to count my blessings…to adopt the mindset of abundance and not of scacity. In fact, everyday can be a celebration of life…just take a few moments..and you will find that you are “richer” than you think you are :D You can view and buy my other “Celebration Of Life” products at my Zazzle Gallery:

Molly the Lil Witch, Oscar and Ophelia by Paul Rees-Jones The night was stormy and rather bleak, / Molly was a little bored witchy freak. She mulled over spells and warmed up her cauldron, / To create some friends to end her boredom. She delicately sewed a doll from rags, / Smiling and singing, a rather cute hag. And when she was done she was bright as a star, / Because held in her hands was the rag boy, Oscar. But soon she thought about the little boys heart, / To be all alone when his life just starts. So she borrowed small string of yarn from his hair, / And fashioned Ophelia, a sister to share. A spell and a cloud of nasty green smoke, / And Molly had made two little doll folk.

Drenched and cold from the sudden change in weather,Ophelia looked into a house from the window and wished she could be inside with a towel over her wet feathers and a nice warm cup of chamomile tea in between her wings :D You can view and buy my other “In Need Of Shelter” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:

While the imagery is very much the same, this is actually more of a serene, dreamy concept. One of simply floating in the wonder of life itself, and letting the beauty carry you. Hi! Yes, that’s me with a framed up painting of “Love Meditations” and my little owl finger puppet toy named Ophelia too! I was at a joint exhibition’s opening ceremony here in Bangkok,Thailand yesterday evening, I’m currently having 7 of my paintings exhibited there, one of which is “Love Meditations”. There are slightly more than 100 budding artists involved…so there are many many paintings to view and enjoy :D If anyone of you is in Bangkok right now(I know the chances are super slim), do drop by for the show if you can :DThat little happy boy whom I am posing with….his mum is a great supporter of my works and had bought a few from me previously:D I dont normally look this orange, it’s the lighting in the hall and my cam :D

“Do fairies exist?” Ophelia asks the flowers around her, hoping that she will spot one amongst the flowers soon. The flowers couldn’t answer her because they have never seen one before. Undeterered, Ophelia set her sights on the next flower kingdom ahead of her. She will continue to journey on her quest in answer to that burning question in her heart. / / You can view and buy my other “In Search For Fairies” at my Zazzle Gallery:

If you are familiar with Shakespeare’s Hamlet, or the painting by John Everet Milias, you will already know Ophelia, beautiful innocent, niave Ophelia. Deep sorrow and despair following rejection by Hamlet and the death of her father drive her to the lake in which she drowns. This modern interpretation of Ophelia is serene, sensual and strong. She retreats to the garden out of grief and despair but draws on her surroundings to become stronger, despite the loss and betrayal. She learns to free herself through acceptance and forgiveness – though she will never forget! Model – Felicity Schubert / Photography & Styling – Naomi Mawson
