Father Cardinal is the doting dad, visiting the nest frequently with worms for this growing chick. It’s a heartwarming spectacle to watch, a gift I feel has been given to me by God. Thanks to Maria Dryfhout for suggesting this title. I am adding this version of the original upload, “Father and Child”, because I realized the first one was too warm-toned and worked a bit on color balance here. I think this one is more accurate color-wise. Thanks to those who commented on the first image which has been removed.

Do not see my broken headlights, my shattered windshield. Overlook my discarded, rusted hubcap, my missing tires. Pay no attention to the spreading rust eating away my once gleaming paint. As I sit here, corroded and lonely, I remember the days when I was fine, so fine. Remember the days when I cruised the open roads. Hearing always, Willie Nelson’s refrain: “I can’t wait to get on the road again . . . “
