  • I don’t spend much time at home but when I do, I get bored very quickly and this is what I come up with! I’ve always had a fascination with eyes, both in drawing, painting and photography so have decided to explore this further and of course my kids once again were my faithful models! I started my my middle son who has a perfect mix of my (blue) & my hubby’s (brown) eyes. My oldest son says they look like opals so hence the name. I will also upload my other children’s eyes as they all look like jewels to me. Apart from the selective colouring, I have only added some extra saturation and enhanced the contrast.. No actual colour changes were made. I don’t know if I’ll keep them up but will definitely get them in a card at least! Enjoy.

  • One more view of Beautiful Australia! / Another view here And another view here I haven’t gotten tired of it, and I’ve had it most of my life!

  • A Water droplet splash.

  • This time I got it right. All the colors with depth.

  • Besides being a jeweler I am also a gem hound…I thought I would take a few shots of some of my personal stash of gems :) Opals are one of my favorite gems as they are sooooooo beautiful. I hope you enjoy as much as I do :)

  • Southern Dumpling Squids, Euprymna tasmanica are one of my favorite critters and this juvenile demonstrates one of the reasons why. They like most Cephalopods have ‘chromatophores’ which are tiny cells of pigment which can be manipulated to create dazzling colours and patterns. / This little beauty is doing its best to imitate a lump of opal.

  • A small dumpling squid emerges from its hiding place in the sand at night. They are onlyabout 6-8cm long but I really enjoy the opal-like colours that you get in this species. They certainly make a wonderful macro subject for the under water photographer. Shot on a recent dive off the Blairgowerie Marina, on the Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne

  • Sunset at the Curracurrang, just south of Wattamolla, Royal National Park. This is a wild and very rugged section of the Park with amazing rock formations and striations, none of which you can see here because it’s late dusk. But this evening had one of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve seen here in the Park. I don’t know why but good sunsets here are few and far between but when they come – carumba! / The sea wash looked pearl-like against an opalescent sky with the cliffs stringing in between like a necklace. Whoops, waxing lyrical, better stop. Two blended exposures – one for the sky and one for everything else. Taken with the old Canon 30D / Tv: 1.6secs and 1/4sec / Av: f/8 / ISO: 100 / FL: 28mm

  • Water Drop on Gold-Painted Surface… Just Practising… Sony Alpha 350, Sony 100mm Macro Lens at 1:1, Sony Macro Ring Light, Indoor and Natural Light, f6.3 @ 0.4 Sec Exposure, ISO 100, Tripod. / Some levels tweaking in Photoshop. FEATURED TWICE IN THE ‘MACRO WATER PHOTOGRAPHIC GALLERY’!

  • After four trips to South Australia’s Coober Pedy you no longer wonder why? But just accept things for the way they are.

  • View Large Please Wolf Watching Do you see the wolf has followed her here? / In pink nightgown and lace slippers / He hides / But it’s his whiskers that are not hidden / Then she beds him / And lusts for his hot wolf breath She knows she is a flower and he will devour / All of her / And lick his chops like he knew all along / She was his. / Her trick this time is to undress his sorrow / And show him his guts / Putrid with the thoughts of the chase / Chasing the unchaseable His freedom He is bound to wolf dreams he tells her She pets him and kisses his nasties / He howls and begs her for more / She tells him she is his rest stop / The night is his / Till the moon changes back to blue / Then she will cry too / And howl like he showed her / Knowing full well his wolf dreams / Will never let him go. Linaji 2009

  • Featured in Globes, Spheres and Curves Group on 05.10.2009. Not quite due to boredom, more a slight attack of lack of inspiration! I started this one with an end result in mind but . . . it evolved as I went. It doesn’t really look much like my original thought but, I’m quite pleased with the final result. Lol, I think it looks vaguely like opalised wood! – at least on my PC it does. I think it also has a slightly psychedelic look to it. / / Thanks for looking, I hope you enjoy it – all comments and criticsms are very welcome.

  • Birthstone Calendar for 2010 by Zooreka / http://www.zooreka-art.com

  • This is hard to photograph because anywhere I was trying to had light that reflected back off it! Trying to capture the colour in the opal was tricky too. / My grandma bought me this lovely Australian Black Opal Pendant in 1980 when I was 12, I have had it put away all this time (29 years) and don’t ever think I have worn it, the docket is with it too, a precious piece of jewelery I will always treasure, my Gran having left this world now, leaving me with this stunning large heirloom Black Opal Pendant, opal being my October birthstone.

  • Opal is my birthstone and I have always just loved the fire that is in them. This is for all the Libra’s out there!
