  • I was in the affluent suburb in Beverly Hills and noticed adjacent to expensive boutiques, stores and high rent offices was an untended botanical garden. I was not familar with the kinds of plants, but knew many were dying and the contrast of this neglected garden with the opulance of Rodeo Drive and well groomed people was striking. It looked like an alien landscape, but it quickly transcended in my mind to a visual feast of color, texture, light and became an imaginative delight. I hope you enjoy my magical interpretation of what was once a botanical paradise. This is a photo of one of the old trees. sparce with wonderful form highlighted by the enveloping clouds. It was a cold and crisp day and as sundown came upon us as the misty clouds gave way to a spectacular sunset. This particular tree had a spiritual essence with the central figure’s arms raised towards the heavens. Sally Omar’s poetry adds another dimension to the “spirit tree.” She infuses her beautiful and elegant spirit with words to pair this image with her lovely and beautiful writing. They wait very patiently / Arms wrapped around SPIRIT TREE / Somberly they are there / They can’t go anywhere / Souls that are left and cannot retrieve / Anything that they believed / Will they ever be let free / From the beautiful SPIRIT TREE / An Angel with wings of gold / Will come ever so bold / And grab their hands / And bring them to Spiritland / There they will again / Walk with old friends / And find a resting spot / Something they had forgot / When you pass the SPIRIT TREE / Remember none are free / This may be the place where you will go / No one ever knows / And should you be one day be there / You will have to say a prayer / So the Angel will come for you / And fly you to Spiritland too / SPIRIT TREE /

  • Nature provides me with many materials to create my painterly abstracts. Given the myraid of imagery in bark, rocks, plants and other natural forms, sometimes I feel like the camera is my brush. Some of nature’s elements provide more hidden illustrations under the veneer of peeling park. This bark abstract is a good example. The small part of the tree that I photographed had great texture, colors and imagery to inspire your imagination. I am interested in your projections on this canvas and the more you look the more images appear. The first image I saw was a feline on the top center moving toward the right. There are usually faces like the large textured blue head on the far left and right. The large images usually pop out at me before I take the photograph and when I spend time looking at the smaller images, I see a microcosm of a village. Sally Omar’s poetic vision adds a wonderful dimension to this image. She is a gifted poet on RB and if you have not read her poetry, I highly recommend that your enjoy her eloquent words. Every tree tells a story..that is for sure / It shows me a picture and opens a door / A man on horseback is what I see / The horse in a raging fit on the tree / Not happy he saw a wolf on the lane / Afraid he might hurt him..in mental pain / The man tries to calm him but to no avail / He cannot get him to move on the trail / The horse eventually will calm down / The wolf will ignore him and walk around / The man will lovingly understand / Because the horse has a soul similar to man / Sally Omar /

  • Inspired by the wonderful poem of the same name by my dear friend Sally Omar THE MERRY-GO-ROUND Up and down..up and down / Remembering being a child / Instincts so wild / Loving that thrilll / And yet chill / Of up and down..up and down / And round..round..round / No one ever explained to me / What the future would be / The same as THE MERRY-GO-ROUND / Up and down .. up and down / Thought life would be a strait path / Mustn’t have known too much math / It didn’t turn out that way / Life not on a steady ride / We slip..we slide..slip and slide / One day life puts you on easy street / The next day you can accomplish no feat / You can be rich one day / The next it’s all taken away / You can find love / Thank the Powers above / The next day love goes / Life no longer a rose / Your job can be a blast / Next day you leave..it’s in the past / So I would have to equate / Everyone’s life up to this date / As THE MERRY GO ROUND / Going Up and down..Up and down Please visit Sally’s page / and read more of her creative writing – you will be amazed! x

  • I saw this in the small town of Mount Somers at Easter Weekend and thought of Sally Omar here on Redbubble and her grandfather from whom she has inherited her wonderful gift of poetry. Make sure you check out her work it is amazing. Sally wrote a most beautiful poem for one of my photos and also a most beautiful one for people i know who lost their baby son. This is the least I could do to say thank you so much to her. / It is said Sally’s grandfather was a gypsy so this is for you Sally as it has that free spirited gypsy feel to the scene. As if they’ve made this their lovely home for now but maybe not long before it’s time to go a wandering again….. Maybe your grandfather did the same. / Much love to you Sally xx / Check out Sally Omar and the lovely poem she wrote for this photo about her Grandpa….”The Gypsy”... We think he helped her write it as it flowed from her so fast.

  • This is an etching of a young child’s view using symbolic images of doors, a key and rats on the stairway to express her perception of a time and place. The drawing of the child’s face is not finished and much of the meaning of this drawing is reflected in her eyes. How do you interpret what she sees and feels and what the symbols in this drawing represent? This details of this drawing are best viewed in the larger format. Thanks to Sally Omar for pairing her eloquent poem with / “A Child”s View.” / So many questions..no answers yet / Times limitations..have not been set / Questioning eyes..filled with doubt / Not knowing yet..what life is about / There are doors..where secrets lie / Cannot determine..just why / A key to a heart..she is not really sure / Perhaps the key..is to a door / A door that will take her..to a different place / Where she will be grown..with a made-up face / Rats running past..or are they toys / Or do the rats..repesent little boys / The stairway goes up.. to another time / Will she be seven..or twenty-nine / A cloak covering life..she just can’t see / That’s because..she’s only three / So many questions..a life just begun / She should just play now..and have fun /

  • This is my favorite path that is very peaceful and serene. I have several photos of this lovely place in sepia and color. The sepia photo titled / “Timeless Path” shows the light at the end of / the path, symbolic of entering a new realm in / this world or when entering the light after / death. In autumn, the leaves are vibrant and viewing / this path in this close perspective can create the feeling that you are there. The solitary man walking the path is on a journey he takes everyday to clear his mind feeling miles away from the stress of city life that in reality is only minutes away. This photograph was taken in Topanga State / Park in Los Angeles. Viewing this beautiful scenery in the larger format will enhance the intimate feeling of being one with nature. Sally Omar, a very perceptive and sensitive poet on RB adds dimension to this image with her beautiful poetry: “When I am in my golden years / Finished with all my fears / There is an Autumn Path I intend to walk / With no frivolous talk / I will want peace and serenity / No more play then for me / Walking there enjoying the view / Life again will seem brand new / The path will be so bright / Filled with richness and with light / No more worry about convictions / Or life’s many restrictions / I will travel the path alone / Happy to once be on my own / No more anxiety / I will finally be set free / I will forget the past / And the happiness will last / Tired from life’s drudgery / The Autumn Path is all I see.” finished: 5:09 AM PST -12/30/09 / Nikon DSLR D 80 /

  • Love Endures (For Sally Omar)
    by Obadiah-Qi

and so I extend my hand to bear your burden / as a friend you’ve never known / until that time when courage no longer requires you

Even though I don’t know Sally Omar, I see from other’s comments that she is experiencing a great tribulation, so in good Christian conscience I wrote a quick piece in her honor. I pray God wills you the strength you’ve earned in life Miss Omar, as by the examples our lives extend so too the depth of caring he preserves within us as tribulation finds its unwanted place about us. I pray this simple poem is appropriate and in a semblance of caring and good taste. God bless you always….

  • My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to you. Feel the arms of the angels around you both…....... Love, / Jenny Landgraf Sarah McLachlan – Angel
